Advocacy Seminar on the rights of Persons With Disability conducted

A one day Advocacy Seminar on the rights of Persons with Disability was organized at KCC Hall, Saikul by the All Disabled Union Sadar Hills (ADUSH) in collaboration with Manipur North Economic Development (MANEDA) on September 30 .
Over 70 disabled persons from different villages within Saikul sub-division and various church leaders, civil organization and village authority attended the function.
Speaking on the importance of organizing such seminar Ahen Chongloi, President of ADUSH observed that positive results are seen as people's mentality towards the disabled persons has changed and the disabled persons have also realized their value and become more social and friendly.
Mangboi Singsit, Project Officer, MANEDA emphasized the rights entitled to a disabled person by the Constitution of India, Person with Disability Act, 1995 and National Trust Act 1999 .
Johnson Kaikho, former president of Senapati Disabled People Association Manipur (SDPAM) articulated his optimism that sooner or later the disabled person too will enjoy equal opportunity and will be able to live life like the able people.
Sharing his experienced during his tenure as president of SDPAM Johnson asserted that he had been facing a hard time due to lack of awareness among the Government officer regarding the rights and protection granted to disabled people by the Constitution of India and the United Nations.
While accounting the activities of ADUSH Kamlienlal Guite, General Secretary of ADUSH called for all willing person for the upcoming 2nd All Manipur Disabled Sport Meet to submit their details at the organization information or at the Union office.
