Cabinet approves 57 works to be completed in 100 days

Imphal, May 03 2017: In line with the announcement and commitment of the new Government, the State Government has decided to take up various works which would be completed within 100 days.

These works are mainly related to various sectors under Health and Family Welfare, Information Technology, Science and Technology, Agriculture, Horticulture, Transport, Public Works Department, Home, Art and Culture, Public Health Engineering Department, Finance Department, Power, Department of Information and Public Relations, Tourism, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Education, Planning, Social Welfare, MAHUD, Minorities and Backward Classes and Department of Personnel.

A Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Biren Singh today approved the list of 57 works of the various departments to be completed in 100 days.

Some important works under Home, DP, MAHUD, Social Welfare and Labour are opening of cyber crime police station and community policing system, discontinuation of interview in recruitment to Grade-Ill and IV posts, extension of PMAY (Urban) to Greater Imphal, opening of accounts for all old age pension beneficiaries and door step delivery of pension, extension of welfare benefits to 6000 building and construction workers, action plan for ensuring one job opportunity to every household etc.

Some major works to be taken up under MOBC, SCERT, Health and Family Welfare, IT, Science and Technology and Agriculture are construction of 46 classrooms and 14 hostels with 645 beds, launching of DIET Imphal East, rationalisation of transfer and posting of health staff specially in hill areas and putting in place a policy for transfer and posting, special immunisation drive for full immunisation of about 8000 children of 0-2 years in Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Churachandpur and Chandel districts, connection of all district headquarters through wireless, connecting Government offices within district headquarters under SWAN, setting up of 50 seated digital planetarium at Manipur Science Centre, and preparation of strategy for doubling farmers' income by 2020 .

Key works to be taken up under Transport, Education, Rural Development, PWD and DIPR include revival of Manipur State Transport and operationalisation of ISBT at Dewlaland, regulation of private schools and private tuition centres, starting vocational courses in 40 colleges, establishment of video conferencing facilities between Chief Minister/ Education Minister/ Director Education and Government colleges, e-payment system under MGNERGS in all 161 Panchayats, commissioning of office complex of all four Zilla Parishads of the State, mending of pot holes on all roads at district headquarters, restoration of damaged stretches of Mao-Imphal National Highway and launching of Manipur State Journalists Welfare Fund.

Important works under Horticulture, Art and Culture, Power, Finance, Planning, PHED and Tourism are introduction of organic farming to 5000 farmers, support of musical instrument and teaching of music to school children, electrification of 77 census villages in Chandel, Churachandpur, Senapati, Ukhrul and Tamenglong, direct benefit transfer for all State funded schemes, launching of website for monitoring of development activities for effective and efficient utilisation of fund, preparation of Vision 2032 for the State of Manipur, action plan for giving piped drinking water to every household, organisation of Shirui festival and development of Andro Tourist Park.

It may be mentioned that a series of consultations with various line departments were undertaken by the Government in the past few days to facilitate identification of works.

Taking into account the availability of funds, adequate time for completion of works, nature of works and impact of works, 57 works were shortlisted in the first instance.

To ensure timely completion of those identified works in 100 days; the overall progress of works will be monitored by the Chief Minister's office.
