Imphal, March 03 2025: The Human Rights Alert (HRA) has lauded the call of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mr Volker Turk for stepped-up efforts to address violence and displacement in Manipur.

According to HRA executive director Babloo Loitongbam, the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights issued a media statement on March 3, 2025 in Geneva.

The report dedicates two paragraphs to India and one of its says, "I am concerned by the use of restrictive laws and harassment of human rights defenders and journalists resulting in arbitrary detention and a diminished civic space, including in Kashmir.

I also call for stepped-up efforts to address violence and displacement in Manipur, based on dialogue, peace building and human rights" .
