Tamenglong, November 02 2024:
The Jal Jeevan Mission-New Development Bank, Joint Action Committee (JJM-NDB JAC) is set to stage a two-day agitation along NH-37 under the jurisdiction of Tousem Sub-Division in Tamenglong on November 7 and 8 .
This step comes in view of the State Government's inaction concerning JJM-NDB JAC's persistent appeal demanding clearance of pending bills for workers engaged in Jal Jeevan Mission-New Development Bank project in Tousem Sub-Division in Tamenglong.
As per a press note jointly issued by Angam Kamei, convenor, JAC; Kami Gangmei, coconvenor, JAC; Adim Kamei, secretary, JAC and Gedion Gangmei, joint secretary, JAC, a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister through Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai on October 22 highlighting critical concerns and recommendation for effective implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the State.
The JAC said that despite the gravity of the issues raised, there has been no response from the Chief Minister's Office.
As the State Government's inaction continues to persist, the JJM-NDB JAC resolved to take up agitation along National Highway-37 within the jurisdiction of Tousem Sub-Division on November 7 and 8, asserted the press release.
It further reiterated that the protest is in response to the lack of action from the Chief Minister's Office regarding the JJM-NDB JAC's appeal to the Chief Minister to take up immediate action on the memorandum.
The two-day agitation along NH-37 will commence from 6 am of November and conclude at 6 pm November 8 .
Movement of personnel related to the Water Department, health/medicine, electricity and religious events will be exempted.
The press note added that all machinery work and other activities are prohibited during the 2-day agitation.
