National Science Day observed at Lilong Haoreibi College

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Lilong Haoreibi College on Monday observed National Science Day at the college Multipurpose Hall to mark the achievements of C V Raman who was awarded Nobel Prize in 1930 for his great discovery of Raman Effect.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the college, Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh reiterated that Lilong Haoreibi College was assessed and accredited under NAAC very recently in the month of January this year and awarded B grade.
He mentioned that the Science and Technology based Quiz Competition was also organised by the IQAC as a part of activities required under NAAC while adding that it would enhance the achievements of the college in the next cycle of assessment.

He also emphasised on the need to organise such academic exercise on a significant day of the nation to create a scientific temperament amongst the students who mostly belong to the minority communities of the state.
The Head of Home Science Department, Dr N Bino Devi also attended the event as the chief guest.
As part of the observance, an inter-departmental science quiz competition was conducted on the theme, "Integrated approach in science and technology for sustainable future" .
Students of Botany and Zoology Departments jointly stood first position while those of Mathematics and Home Science Departments jointly bagged second position, and Geography Department and B Voc Agriculture jointly took the third position.
Cash awards of Rs 5000, Rs 4000 and Rs 3000 were given to the first, second and third position holders along with citations and gift hampers.
