Kohima, June 18 2010:
Four armed cadre of NSCN(I-M), a part of security vigil to their leader Th.Muivah, were arrested at Jotsoma, near here, for charges of violation of ceasefire (CF) ground rules by Assam Rifles personnel, police said.
Personnel of 16 Assam Rifles arrested the four cadres with arms and ammunition from the populated area of Jotsoma village yesterday where NSCN (I-M) general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah has been camping since Wednesday.
Later the cadres with arms were handed over to South Police Station, Kohima and an FIR was lodged by Assam Rifles charging them of violation of CF ground rules, police said.
Two AK56 rifles, one M16 rifle, one 9 mm pistol, three hand grenades and a radio set along with a huge cache of ammunition were also seized from them, police said.
The cadres were allegedly moving around brandishing weapons in the populated area of the village, but as per CF ground rules the armed activists should not roam around in civilian areas.
