Imphal, January 18 2016: Manipur Apunba Keithel Lup has expressed strong resentment over the State Government for not constructing the temporary market shed at the spot decided earlier.

The Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba, Manipur has also declared that it would extend all its support to TAKDO.

Manipur Keithel Apunba Lup president L Memma, during a press meet held at Khwairamband Keithel today said the Chief Minister in a meeting with the women vendors of Khwairamband on January 7 had said that his Government would arrange rehabilitation of the quake affected vendors at the public parking of Temporary market.

The Imphal Municipal Council also issued a notification confirming construction of the temporary market at the said area the same day.

As per the notice, construction works for the same were to begin from January 8 .

However, the State Government began construction of market sheds along Thangal bazar road against the agreed plan.

Condemning the action of the State Government, Memma said it would have been wiser if the State had consulted any association/lup(s) of Khwairamband market before taking up the construction works.

It is still unclear how the IMC notice confirming rehabilitation of the affected vendors at Temporary market was revoked, Memma stated.

The lup had approached the Works Minister seeking arrangement of a meeting with the Chief Minister on January 15 but it was declined.

They have also approached the Social Welfare Minister and IMC seeking answers to the rehabilitation plans of the State Government but both had refused to comment, she said.

Approving MLA Joykishan's stand against the construction of the temporary market shed, the lup said it will support the MLA in all his future actions.
