Mizoram Police file more cases against Hmar rebel leaders

In another turn of events, top Hmar Peoples' Conference (D) rebel leaders who are in judicial custody in Aizawl and were to be out on bail on January 9 were charged with more criminal cases by the Mizoram Police the previous day.
"This means that the Hmar leaders will have to stay in jail for more days as court proceedings will take its own time," sources said.
It maybe noted that HPC-D 'chairman' H.Zosangbera and "deputy army chief" Biaknunga were granted bail by the Chief Judicial Magistrate after hearing their cases.
Zosangbera was arrested in New Delhi airport on July 17, 2012 when he was on his way to meet Union home ministry officials, according to the outfit's statement issued earlier.
Biaknunga, likewise was arrested by the Mizoram Police with thew outfit's 'Army Chief' Lalropuia on June 10, 2012 at Silchar airport when they were on a mission to meet Mizoram all party peace delegates.
The HPC-D is demanding an autonomous district council in Hmar inhabited areas in Mizoram.
