Imphal, December 10 2010: Imphal East District Police Commandos arrested one PREPAK cadre identified as Tongbram Ibomcha Singh alias Rajesh (25) s/o T Biren Singh of Thanga Khunjem but staying at Langol Ningthou Leikai from Khurai Lamlong Bazar at around 3.20 pm yesterday.

According to a statement issued by SP of Imphal East Th Radheshyam today, on verification, Ibomcha disclosed that he joined PREPAK through one S/S 2nd Lt Ningthi and trained at Burma Dhela in 2004 and he is now holding the rank of lance corporal of the outfit.

The SP further informed that on the same day, a combined team of Imphal East District Police Commandos and 28 Assam Rifles arrested one UTLA cadre identified as PC Lalboy Singson alias Lalboy (27) s/o Helun Singson of Tuinom village, Churachandpur from Lamlong area at around 3.30 pm.

One Chinese made hand grenade and two demand letters of UTLA signed by one S/S finance secretary Lendon were recovered from his possession, On verification, Lalboy disclosed that he joined the outfit in September 2010 through one S/S town commander Kairen of Keithelmanbi side and he is now working under his command and he was involved in extortion of money from Government officials along with one his associates identified as Gugun.

They also help in transportation of arms and ammunition from one place to another.

Meanwhile, discovering the movement of militant cadres in Mintha area, troops of 29 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under IGAR (South) launched opersion and apprehended two individuals.

Identifying the apprehended individuals as Hijam Bishorjit Singh alias Kokngang (21) s/o Hijam Manishang Singh of Singjamei Bheigyapati Leikai and Mutum Gobin Singh alias Pukchel (18) s/o Mutum Modhuchandra Singh of Chingkhu, PRO Assam Rifles said that both the apprehendees were found to be new recruits of proscribed outfit UPPK who were misguidedly taken for training.

Both the individuals have been handed over to their parents through Tengnoupal Police Station, the PRO said, adding that the humane gesture of Assam Rifles is a message to the youth of Manipur to folow the mainstream for a peaceful life.

Drugs seized: Troops of 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in general area of Bongyang and apprehended one individual alongwith contraband drugs at around 1.15 pm yesterday.

The apprehendee has been identified as Helen (32) s/o Thangsei of Bongyang.

Around 1,40,00 pices of Namcold tablets were recovered from the apprehendee who has been subsequently handed over to Tengnoupal Police Station along with the recoveries.
