Imphal, January 06 2013 : The National Integration tour, comprising of 23 students, three teachers and Meira Paibis from remote areas of Imphal West district along with representatives from 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector, which was flagged off from Keithelmanbi on December 31, 2012 reached Kolkata on January 4 and interacted with GOC-in-C, Eastern Command Lt Gen Dalbir Singh at Fort Williams on January 5 for an hour, informed a PRO IGAR (S) release.

The Army Commander interacted with the children and enquired about their hobbies and games they play, said the release adding that during the interaction, the general encouraged the children to put their best foot forward in the service of the nation by becoming responsible citizens and also exhorted them to gain valuable knowledge from this tour and the interactions thereof.

He also encouraged them to utilize this opportunity to discover the prospects that are available outside and to also imbibe the positive values of people from different States of India which shall assist them in becoming better human beings and actively contribute towards the development of the society.

The GOC also added that cognitive-learning outcomes occur when teachers invest time in students and there can't be anything better than the time spent together as it will foster team building by being involved in all the activities.

As a token of remembrance the children were presented with pens, bags and caps by the General Officer.

The children also reciprocated the gesture by presenting a handicraft to the Army Commander, added the release.

The children then visited Royal Kolkata turf club where they witnessed horse racing and later visited Alipore zoo, Victoria memorial, Science city, Eden garden stadium and Park street.
