Imphal, May 05:
Alleging discrepancies in the question papers of the ongoing B Ed examination being conducted by the Manipur University, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has demanded identification of the question setters within 24 hours and initiating necessary actions against them.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at AMSU Head office here this afternoon, president of the student body Khamba Laishram asserted that there are discrepancies in the question papers of the B Ed examination.
He pointed out that in the paper II of the examination held on May 2, there are many questions that were similar to the questions already asked in the pre-final examination of the RK Sanatombi College of Teacher Education.
This is an attempt made by some vested interested persons in connivance with the question setters to promote the private college, he alleged.
He further alleged that the questions of the paper III of the examination which was held today was also leaked.
In this regard, the Registrar of the University, Pro VC, Chairman of the Examination Committee and Controller have been met and the AMSU showed the leaked questions to the students.
After comparing the leaked questions with the question paper in their custody, the MU officials admitted and apologised for the leakage yet appealed to the student body not to create any disturbance.
Taking serious note of the matter, the conduct of the examination can be put on hold.
But in consideration of the career of the students, AMSU has restrained from taking such an extreme decision.
So the question setters should be identified and produced within 24 hours for taking up necessary action against them, the student body demanded.
The student body further alleged discrepancies in the selection process of the Ph D admission in Manipur University.
The admission is being allowed throughout the year without any time limit.
Accordingly, an application has been submitted to the VC to admit only the bonafide candidates.
However, so far no response has been received, the student body lamented, while appealing to the MU authorities for paying serious attention to the matter.
The student body also demanded that selection of students in the Centre for Manipur Studies of the University should also be done along with bringing out proper advertisement.
