Imphal, February 29 2012:
All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) has cautioned that it will initiate agitation including suspension of Court works if vacant posts in nine different Courts are not filled up at the earliest.
The association also demanded for immediate replacement of Gauhati High Court Imphal Bench Registrar Max Phazang.
In a press conference held at AMBA office, AMBA general secretary S Shyamcharan alleged that posts of Judge in nine Courts remain vacant for long as Max Phazang continues as the Registrar in the Imphal Bench of Gauhati High Court even after his service period has expired.
He alleged that Max Phazang occupies the post by extending his service period every six months although there are many competent individuals for the post.
Questioning whether there is nobody who can hold the post, S Shyamcharan said that no other Registrar had ever extended service period like Max Phazang in the past.
He added that the State Government has failed to take up any step to promote three Judges to Grade-I although the Gauhati High Court has already given its recommendation.
Shyamcharan also alleged that promotion for many other posts are delayed with Max Phazang continues with the post of the Registrar.
Posts for Member Secretary of Manipur State Legal Service Authority, Additional District and Sessions Judge Manipur West, District Session Judge Manipur East are vacant in Grade-I posts.
In Grade-II posts, CJM Imphal East, Administrative Officer, Senior Civil Judge Number 1 Manipur East, Senior Civil Judge Manipur West are vacant while JMIC (Transport) in Grade-III post is still vacant.
