Death toll jumps by five, 216 test positive

Imphal, September 28 2021:
The State's COVID-19 death toll has jumped from 1847 to 1852 following the death of five persons due to the virus during the last 24 hours.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, all the five victims had co-morbidities and one of them had 1st dose of Covid vaccine.
They hailed from Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Churachandpur.
The daily positivity rate recorded on Tuesday was 7.5 per cent as 216 samples were confirmed positive out of 2894 samples tested for coronavirus.
Kamjong recorded the highest positivity rate of 19 per cent followed by Imphal West (12.1 per cent) and Imphal East (10.6 per cent) .
Altogether 211 civilians and five CAPF personnel were tested positive at RIMS (6), JNIMS (23) and other testing centres (187) .
The civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal East (47), Imphal West (125, Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (10), Churachandpur (7), Chandel (1), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (4), Kamjong (4) and Kangpokpi (6) .
Altogether 179 COVID-19 positive persons who were undergoing treatment under home isolation (70), RIMS (9), JNIMS (13), CCCs (81) and CHICs (6) were discharged during the last 24 hours as they have recovered.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 1,20,216 (general population 1,15,936 and Central security personnel 4,280) .
It includes 2,143 active cases (general population 2,103 and Central security personnel 40) and 1,16,221 recovered cases (general population 1,11,986 and Central security personnel 4,235) .
The recovery rate as on Tuesday is 96.68 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1283 D-type oxygen cylinders and 274 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the State.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the State has reached 16,81,728 (1st dose 12,20,673 and 2nd dose 4,61,055) .
This includes 10584 doses administered on September 27 .
As enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, COVID-19 beds available at different health care centres are RIMS (general beds 200; ICU/HDU beds 24), JNIMS (general beds 46; ICU/HDU beds 5), CMC (general beds 29; ICU/HDU beds 8), Iboyaima Hospital (general beds 25; ICU/HDU beds 5), Jivan Hospital (general beds 20; ICU/HDU beds 5), Shija Hospital (general beds 53; ICU/HDU beds 37) and Raj Medicity (general beds 80; ICU/HDU beds 24) .
