No changes made to district boundaries : CM
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, December 26 2022: Categorically stating that no changes have been made to the district boundaries demarcated in 1960, Chief Minister N Biren has appealed to all the people, particularly those residing at the junctions of hill districts and valley districts not to be anxious about district boundaries.

The Chief Minister inaugurated a newly constructed RCC bridge (PMGSY package no MN 04111) at Nungoi Litan Makhong under Lamlai AC on the Good Governance Day yesterday.

Notably, the Good Governance Day is observed on December 25 in commemoration of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Speaking at the inaugural function of the RCC bridge built over Iril River by the Manipur State Rural Road Development Agency, Chief Minister N Biren stated that the RD&PR Minister had been asked to announce the final result of the recruitment exam of 84 posts in RD&PR as a gift to the people on the Good Governance Day.

Incidentally, RD&PR and MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand, Education Minister Th Basantakumar, Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti, Wangoi AC MLA Kh Loken and Lamlai AC MLA Kh Ibomcha were also present at the inaugural function.

As per the advice of the Chief Minister, RD&PR Department issued a notification yesterday itself whereby final results of the recruitment of 49 office assistants, seven stenographers (Grade III), seven drivers and 21 peons were announced.

N Biren said that the results of written examination held for appointment of 84 posts in DRDA wing were declared as soon as the examination was over.

Typing speed test was also computerised and the candidates were shown the marks they scored in the exam soon after the exam was over.

The final recruitment results were announced based on the marks scored by the candidates without giving any room for bribery, the Chief Minister said.

He said that it was the beginning of a transparent governance under the BJP 2.0 Government.

Hailing his Council of Ministers, N Biren claimed that the incumbent Ministers are all sincere and hard-working.

"It is the sincerity and diligence of the Ministers which enables me to work peacefully as the Chief Minister of the State and take up several policies and programmes," Biren said.

The Chief Minister maintained that the recruitment result was purely based on merit.

Regarding disputes and controversies over district boundaries, the Chief Minister appealed to all the people not to be too anxious or restive about the matter.

People need not confront each other for there is a Government to solve all such matters under the Constitution and relevant laws, Biren said.

There are maps for each and every district which were demarcated in 1960 and reaffirmed in 1972, and no changes have been made to these maps.

Saying that police would be directed to remove all misleading signboards, the Chief Minister appealed to all the people not to take the trouble of removing such signboards.

Claiming that the RD&PR Minister's regular tour of inspecting roads constructed under PMGSY in hill districts is a part of the Government's Go to Hills mission, Biren said that such visits help in understanding and addressing the grievances of people living in remote areas.

The fundamental theme of Good Governance Day is people's welfare.

A Government is not for some Ministers, bureaucrats and party leaders, he asserted.

The Chief Minister said that the Nungoi bridge was inaugurated as a part of the BJP 2.0 Government's 'Inauguration Month' .

The Government has been planning to inaugurate over 100 projects.

Coupled with substantial infrastructural growth in the next couple of years, the State Government has been working hard to develop Manipur as a model State, Biren said.

He then instructed all concerned to complete all projects in time without compromising the qualitative aspect.

RD&PR Minister Y Khemchand said that there can be no good governance in any State where there are bandhs and blockades too frequently.

Rapid development can materialise only when there is peace, he said.

Saying that there are 316 PMGSY packages in Manipur, Khemchand said that he would continue inspecting PMGSY works in hill districts under the Government's Go to Hills mission.
