Imphal, July 25: Yet another history of sorts was created in Thoubal district as 21akh people came out of their homes and participated in a rally against the ceasefire extension.

It may be mentioned here that the district is the home of about 4 lakh people.

The tally participated by different communities of the district was led by the president of Action Committee Against Ceasefire in Manipur, Thoubal District, the Councillor of Thoubal Municipality, W Inaojuge and president of AMSU Thoubal branch, A Ingocha.

The rally started at 1l am from Thoubal Haokha ground.

It passed through Thoubal Oki-am.

Wangmata, Thoubal bazaar, DC office, police station, Mela ground, Athokpam, Khangabok and ended at Wangjing Kodompokpi ground.

The serpentine line of people took almost four hours to complete ear-marked route.

A meeting was also organized at the end of the rally.

Prominent speakers representing the UCM included MU Prof Nabakumar, Convenors; Ratankumar, S Jadumani and Ima Sarojini.

The meeting announced a 7-point resolution.

They are people of Thoubal district will continue to support the steps taken by UCM, submitting a comprehensive history of 2000-year-old Manipur to the Prime Minister and Home Minister, Indian government should immediately change its stance and revoke the ceasefire and amendment of article of the Constitution of India to prevent any break-up of the state.

Rallies and dharnas were also organized in various part of Bishnupur district.

Around 3000 Muslims participated in a rally organised at Borayanbi under Kumbi PS organised by the MSF, Borayanbi unit and the Jami-Atul Ulema.

Participated by children and elders alike, the rally started off from Borayanbi Thongkhong and passed through the adjoining areas under CCpur, Thoubal and Bishnupur district.

Led by one Amir Shah, the people also offered prayers to the Almighty for the departed, souls of the martyrs and to bring peace and harmony in the state.

The residents of Thinungei also showed their solidarity to the peoples' movement and organized a rally participated by about 3000.About 450 persons participated in a tally organized by MSF, Moirang branch.

Rallies were also organized against the ceasefire by Presbyterian Church, Bishnupur Pastorate, Kanglei Presbyterain Church, Bishnupur, Aimol Baptish Church and Rongmei Naga Presbyterian Church.
