Ukhrul, May 24 2022: Ukhrul AC MLA Ramnganing Muivah has stated that the district is all set and prepared to host the 4th Shirui Lily Festival after a gap of two years in different venues.

An added attraction will be Miss India Universe Adlene Casteleno who was the third runner up at the Miss Universe contest in 2020, who arrived today to attend the Shirui Lily Festival.

The 4 day festival will begin tomorrow and it will continue till May 28 .

Ramnganing Muivah is the chairman of the Sub-Committee for Entertainment & Reception of the 4th Shirui Lily Festival.

The objective of the festival is to promote sustainable eco-tourism, and conserve the State flower "Shirui Lily" which only grows at Kashong Hills of Shirui village.

Speaking to the media at Phungreitang, the MLA said that many mesmerizing events such as cultural shows, rock show, rock contest, folk dance, adventure sports etc will be showcased during the four day festival which will begin tomorrow.

The opening programme will be held at Vangayan foothills of Shirui village in the presence of Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

According to Ram, cultural items will be held at Shirui village while Bakshi ground will host musical events and other night programmes.

The MLA said that a Mandap with CGI roofing has been erected in Bakshi Ground.

Saying that British progressive metal band "Monuments" will enthrall Ukhrul with their hit numbers on May 28 and all visa arrangements for their arrival have been completed, the MLA continued that a two day National level rock contest will also be held on May 26 and 27 at Bakshi Ground.

Altogether 16 bands including local bands will vie for the coveted Shirock title in the two day event.

Ram Muivah said that at least one hour will be reserved everyday for the local people to showcase their talent.

Padma Shri awardee Guru Rewben Mashangva will be the curtain raiser of Shirock musical nite.
