Deaths, positive cases continue to remain high as virus runs riot
Manipur reports 12 deaths, 928 new cases

Imphal, July 22 2021:
A drop from the high of 1327 cases reported on July 21, but still high with Manipur logging 928 new cases including seven Central security personnel in the last 24 hours, on the fifth day of the total curfew imposed to check the spread of the virus.
With 928 positive cases detected out of a total of 5555 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the daily positivity rate is reported to be 16.7 percent, which is high by any standard.
Along with 928 new cases, Manipur also reported 12 deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours to take the total number of deaths to 1436 .
Significantly none of the 12 deceased persons had been inoculated.
And out of them 7 had co-morbidities, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The deceased belonged to Imphal West (3), Imphal East (3), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2) and Kangpokpi (3).The positive cases were detected while being tested at RIMS (49), JNIMS (142), District Hospitals (476) and other testing centres (261) .
The 921 positive cases from amongst the general population are from Imphal East (256), Imphal West (284), Thoubal (54), Bishnupur (79), Kakching (55), Ukhrul (3), Churachandpur (102), Chandel (23), Senapati (11), Tamenglong (26), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (5), Noney (3), Pherzawl (2) and Kamjong (15) .
All necessary measures including containment and contact tracings have been put in place, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
On the other hand, 868 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours to take the cumulative number of discharged persons to 77,147 including 3893 Central security personnel.
The number of active cases has now gone up to 10,395 including 63 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate stands at 86.70 percent.
On July 21, 20,216 people received their vaccination shots to take the total number of vaccinated people to 11,11,138 .
The total includes 1,31,242 people who have received their second dose.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1644 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 346 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres.
