Jiri-Tupul-Imphal rail line begins to take shape
First trial run held Engine rolls on from Jiri to Dholakal

The Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal rail line took its first step today with a successful trial engine run over a distance of 12 kms from Jiribam railway station to Dholakal.
The foundation stone of the rail line was laid back in November 2004 by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh while Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Railway Minister.
In February 2005, the rail line was declared a National Project by the Government of India with the NF Railway entrusted with the task of executing the project.
It is stipulated that the track laying up to Tupul would be completed by 2014 .
Speaking to The Sangai Express, an official source from the NF Railway Construction Organisation said that a landmark has been set with the successful engine test run over a distance of 12 kms from Jiribam to Dholakal.

The engine trial run was conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Engineer/ Construction/I/Jiribam and other officers of his unit.
The Deputy Chief Engineer/ Construction/II/ Jiribam was also present at the occasion.
The said track is linked on a steep hilly terrain with maximum height of embankment filling of 54 mt and maximum height of cutting of 57 metres, said the source further.
In this section there are 25 minor bridges and five Road Over Bridges/Road Under Bridges, said the source and added that the newly constructed station Dholakhal is located at a height of 99.901 metres above Mean Sea Level and is near to Vangaichungpao village.
The NF Railway has completed this task in spite of severe law and order problem in the area, said the area.
The source further said that NF Railway are thankful to the people of Manipur and Govt of Manipur for providing round the clock security of MR in this area and for their co-operation to make it possible to achieve this milestone.
