JNIMS Director accuses Sangai Express of using 'old photograph'...
But pictures with datestamps say it all

Reacting to the report carried by The Sangai Express in the April 21 edition, detailing the continued unethical disposal of biomedical waste by JNIMS authority, the Director of the institute has accused the paper of publishing old photos, claiming "effective steps [had been] taken [up] to manage bio-medical waste in JNIMS" .
In a statement written "Press release for Sangai Express", Professor L Usharani Devi, Director JNIMS, claimed that the contents of the news published by the paper on April 20 carrying a picture showing a pile of bio-medical waste were "not accurate" .

Accusing this paper of publishing an old photograph, the Director claimed that the current situation on ground is not at all like the impression created by the news item.
"Regarding the news published in the Sangai Express on 20 April 2025 about pile of Bio-medical waste in JNIMS Campus it is clarified that the news item has carried an old photograph.
Further the contents are also not accurate.
"The current situation on ground is not at all like the impression created by the news item," said the Director said in the statement, enclosing "latest photos and videos taken in the morning of 20 April 2025" .
The Director further claimed that the JNIMS administration has initiated a series of steps to dispose and manage the bio-medical waste properly.
The steps taken reports as per the Director are represented here without any changes--
The Director said--Firstly, most of the bio-medical waste has already been cleared from the campus ground.
Secondly, the JNIMS administration has initiated following steps in this matter:
1.Strict segregation of waste at the source by strict instruction and monitoring at wards, laboratories etc.
2.Procurement of sufficient amount of bags and other materials.
3.Immediate engagements of an agency to take away general waste to disposal site.
4.Take up action for engaging agency for long term solution.
5.To manage the already buried waste by excavating the area and segregation the waste and dispose at appropriate sites.
