Manipur records single day highest spike with 1104 cases

Imphal, July 14 2021:
Just 24 hours after Manipur recorded the second highest number of deaths on a single day with 22, the State reported another high, this time the highest number of new cases with 1104 people testing positive for the virus to take the cumulative figure of positive cases to 80,521 including 3936 Central security personnel.
The previous record was 1032 reported on May 30 and just one day earlier it was 1007 on
May 29 .
The 1104 positive cases came from a total of 7594 samples tested to return a daily positivity rate of 14.5 percent.
Along with the highest cases recorded in a single day, Manipur did not lag much behind in the daily death count too, with the State recording 17 deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours to take the cumulative figure of deaths to 1326 .
The deceased belonged to Imphal West (4), Imphal East (3), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (1), Tengnoupal (1) and Churachandpur (4) .
Out of the 1104 people who returned positive results, 11 were personnel from the Central Armed Police Force.
The 1093 civilians included 598 females.
The civilians belong to Imphal East (195), Imphal West (366), Thoubal (108), Bishnupur (67), Kakching (80), Ukhrul (6), Churachandpur (102), Chandel (10), Senapati (32), Tamenglong (66), Tengnoupal (9), Jiribam (6), Noney (33), Kamjong (1) and Kangpokpi (12) .
The number of active cases now stands at 8,210 including 107 Central security personnel.
Necessary measures such as containment and contact tracings have been put in place, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room in a statement.
On the other hand, 583 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours including 179 from home isolation, RIMS (8), JNIMS (5), CCCs (170) and CHICs (221) .
The total number of persons who have been discharged stands at 70,985 including 3824 .
The recovery rate stands at 88.15 percent.
A total of 31,086 persons received their vaccination jabs on July 13 and the total number of vaccinated people is now 9,21,729 .
This is inclusive of 99,374 who have received their second dose.
Till July 13, the total number of patients admitted is 2287 and the number of beds available is 1951, added the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1802 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 435 B Type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health centres across the State.
