Imphal, June 13 2024:
Pambei-led UNLF's acting Chairman M Nongyai has stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is unable to say anything on the protracted Manipur crisis because of the assurance he and his party gave to Kukis in the run up to the 2017 general elections.
M Nongyai was speaking at an event held today at Nongshum community hall in commemoration of the battle of Khamenlok fought on June 13 last year.
Apart from the acting Chairman, many leaders of the Pambei-led UNLF, Meira Paibis from different communities, representatives of CSOs and local club volunteers attended the commemorative event.
The gathering paid rich tributes to all the ten martyrs who laid down their lives at the battle of Khamenlok.

Speaking at the event organised by the Eramdam Kanba Lup (EKAL), Nongyai said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra cannot speak anything on the Manipur crisis because of his assurance to fulfil everything desired by the Kuki militants in exchange for BJP's victory .
Indian Home Minister Amit Shah too did not come back despite his promise that he would be back in Manipur soon because of the same pre-poll assurance given to Kuki militants, he said.
The Kukis attacked Meiteis because they had strong apprehension that Meiteis would object to their geopolitics while the Meiteis never expected that the Kukis would wage war against them.
Earlier in the past when the UNLF had a strong presence in the hills of Manipur, they had their camps in areas inhabited by Hmars, Paites, Thadous and other Kuki tribes, Nongyai said.
At that point of time, Kukis were not pursuing any geopolitics.
However, since they (Kukis) started espousing a geopolitics of their own, they convinced themselves that their geopolitics would not succeed without weakening the Meiteis, Nongyai said.
"We will not rest until all the forces scheming to destroy the integrity of Manipur, built with the blood and sweat of our forefathers, are defeated.
We would never reconcile without first exacting revenge for desecrating the sacred sites of Koubru, Thangjing and Kondong Lairembi", the Pambei-led UNLF's acting Chairman asserted.
Former rebel leader and social activist RK Sanayaima alias Meghen said that the offensive launched by Kukis against Meiteis was not a concoction of Kukis alone.
The Government of India too has been indulging in a deep conspiracy in support of the geopolitics of Kukis, he said.
It was the Government of India which pointed out that the revolutionary groups of Manipur are not as strong as they once were, and advised the Kukis that it was the right time to attack the Meiteis, Sanayaima said.
