Imphal, July 10 2024:
Even as the unrest in Manipur has crossed the 14th month mark, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has stated that whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the State or not will be determined by the situation in Manipur.
The Chief Minister gave the remark after attending a meeting of the BJP State executives at Nityaipat Chuthek today while adding that speeding up the peace initiative to restore normalcy was one of the resolutions adopted at Wednesday's meeting.
"We are all aware that talks between both communities had begun to restore peace under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The State has witnessed normalcy returning in many parts," he said.

Biren further stated that the meeting also discussed taking necessary steps in connection with the recent floods that occurred in Manipur.
The meeting also discussed monitoring the issues of relief camps established for the displaced people affected by the crisis.
A committee headed by Manipur's Cabinet Minister K Govindas has already been established.
However, to effectively monitor the relief process, a sub-committee was also formed during the meeting, added Singh.
It may be mentioned that leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi had visited Manipur on July 8 and requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come to the State while asserting his party's support to any Government move to bring back peace.
Speaking to the media, N Biren continued that the Government is in contact with the Prime Minister round the clock.
It is the stand of the Congress party that the Prime Minister should visit Manipur, he said and reiterated that the situation will determine whether the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah should visit the State or not.
The Chief Minister, however, didn't elaborate what the 'situation in Manipur' entails.
Interestingly, BJP in-charge of Manipur Dr Ajeet Gopchade had told the media that the Prime Minister will definitely come to Manipur with a roadmap to restore normalcy in the State, though he fell short of informing when.
Further stating that the Government has been working on the advice of the Prime Minister, N Biren elaborated that all relief works, security measures, food and medical provisions are being taken up on the advice of the PM.
Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, BJP NE Region in-charge Sambit Patra, State Cabinet Ministers, MLAs and BJP State unit president A Sharda Devi attended the meeting at Thambal Shanglen.
Arjun Ram Meghwal left Imphal for Delhi in the evening after attending the meeting.
It is reported that the meeting discussed measures to restore normalcy in Manipur as soon as possible as the leaders of the two warring communities have started holding dialogue.
