Low test of 3005, low new cases at 467 and high DPR of 15.5 pc

Imphal, August 09 2021:
With only 3005 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, Manipur returned the lowest daily spike with 467 cases, though the daily positivity rate is a high 15.5 percent.
This is the second lowest surge in a day in the months of July and August with July 5 recording 432 new cases with a daily positivity rate of 13.5 percent.
The low number of tests and low number of new cases detected in the last 24 hours saw the recovery rate going up to 91.73 percent with 825 persons discharged in the last 24 hours.
Along with the low count of new cases, the death count too fell below the double digit mark at 7 making this the lowest death count on a single day in the month of August.
The number of 7 deaths is also the lowest in the month of July, with the 10th of July recording 7 deaths.
With the addition of seven more deaths the virus has till now claimed 1657 lives.
Of the seven who passed away, 5 persons had co-morbidities and only one of them had received the first dose of the vaccine, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The deceased persons were from Imphal West (1) Imphal East (1), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (2) and Tengnoupal (1) .
The 467 persons who tested positive are all from the civil population and they include 236 women.
Their positive status was confirmed during testing at RIMS (67), JNIMS (14), District Hospitals ((209) and other testing centres (177) .
The positive persons are from Imphal East (118), Imphal West (125), Thoubal (25), Bishnupur (94), Kakching (16), Ukhrul (2), Churachandpur (41), Chandel (12), Senapati (14), Tamenglong (11), Jiribam (2) and Kangpokpi (7) .
Necessary precautionary measures including containment and contact tracing are in place, claimed the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
At the same time 825 persons were discharged from home isolation (364), RIMS (12), JNIMS (17), CCCs (161) and CHICs (271) taking the total number of recovered cases to 96,128 including 3973 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate has climbed to 91.73 percent and the number of active cases has gone down to 7,006 inclusive of 79 Central security personnel.
In the last 24 hours 3475 people received their vaccination jabs taking the total number of vaccinated people to 13,93,780 .
The total includes 2,45,688 people who have received the second dose of the vaccine.
In the last 24 hours a total of 2572 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 412 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
The number of Covid beds available at different health centres as on August 9, 2021 are Iland Hospital (General beds-12), MSF, Little Flower School (General beds-4, ICU beds-6), CMC, Koirengei (General beds-30, ICU beds-6), Iboyaima Hospital (General beds-22), Jivan Hospital, Kakching (General beds-13, ICU beds-5), Shija Hospital (General beds-8, ICU beds-8), Raj Medicity (General beds-37, ICU beds-10), RIMS (General beds-36, ICU beds-18), JNIMS (General beds-7) .
