12 more deaths, 748 new cases added

The second wave of the global pandemic continues to exact a heavy toll with Manipur reporting 12 more deaths and recording 748 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.
The 748 new cases is a big increase over the 598 cases reported on June 7 while the number of deaths saw a slight dip with 12 compared to the 15 recorded on June 7 .
As is the latest trend, Manipur recorded more positive cases than Delhi in the last 24 hours.
To Manipur's total of 748 new cases, Delhi reported just 316 new cases in the last 24 hours.
The 12 deaths include 4 from Imphal West, 4 from Imphal East, 1 from Thoubal, 1 from Bishnupur and 2 from Churachandpur.
The 12 succumbed to COVID-19 at RIMS (2), JNIMS (1), Shija Hospital (5), Raj Medicity (2) and District Hospital, Churachandpur (2) .
With the addition of 12 more, the cumulative number of deaths now stands at 908 .
Spokesperson of the Health Department and Additional Director of Health Services, Dr Sasheekumar Mangang in a statement said that 748 persons including 379 females were tested positive in the last 24 hours.
None from the Central security personnel tested positive in the same period.
The 748 were tested positive at RIMS (22), JNIMS (9), District Hospitals (511) and other testing centres (206).The positive cases were drawn from Imphal East (162), Imphal West (205), Thoubal (120), Bishnupur (63), Kakching (52), Ukhrul (2), Churachandpur (66), Chandel (17), Senapati (7), Tamenglong (7), Tengnoupal (17), Kangpokpi (6), Kamjong (2), Pherzawl (4), Jiribam (17) and Noney (1) .
All precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the spokesperson.
Out of 21 air passengers who were tested in the last 24 hours, none were found positive.
On the other hand, 579 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (395), 25 from RIMS, 4 from JNIMS and 155 from Covid Care Centres.
With 748 more cases, the cumulative number of positive cases has gone up to 56,567 (general population-52,809 and Central security personnel-3767).The cumulative number of recovered cases stands at 46,527 including 3760 Central security personnel while the number of active cases has shot up to 9141 including 2 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate is 82.23 percent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1672 D type Oxygen cylinders and 549 B type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health centres in the State.
The total number of persons who have been vaccinated is 4,35,172 .
