Bharat Yatra was to save democracy : Ibobi

AICC leader Rahul Gandhi's recently concluded Bharat Yodo Yatra or the 3970 Kms long march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir was aimed at safeguarding the Constitution of India and democracy in the country and unification of the people of India, said CLP leader Okram Ibobi.
All India Mahila Congress Committee secretary Lhingkim Haokip Shinghisui and NSUI Manipur State unit president Md Kabir Ahamad who took part in the Bharat Yodo Yatra were accorded a warm reception at Congress Bhavan here today along with former NPP spokesman in Kumbi AC N Ibohal, former Independent candidate in Andro AC Bale Asheibam and social worker Maibam Khellen of Khurai AC.
Speaking at the occasion, Okram Ibobi claimed that the long march led by Rahul Gandhi from Kanyakumari to Kashmir would remain a landmark event in the history of Congress party.

The march carried a message of unification to all the people irrespective of caste, creed and religion just as Mahatma Gandhi's non-violent movement unified the people of India against British colonialism.
The Bharat Yodo Yatra was aimed at saving democracy and the Constitution of India from the dictatorship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ibobi said.
In the aftermath of the Bharat Yodo Yatra, preparations are being made to launch Hathse Hath Yatra in all the districts and blocks of Manipur, said the CLP leader.
MPCC president K Meghachandra hailed the integrity and valour of the two Manipuris who took part in the Bharat Yodo Yatra.
The march was aimed at unifying the people of India in the face of the scourge of communalism which is spreading far and wide under the BJP Government, Meghachandra said.
The MPCC president also welcomed all the three individuals who have joined Congress party with firm belief in Rahul Gandhi's ideology and the party's principle at a time when the party is no longer in power.
