Jiribam, January 02 2021: On the completion of one year for the implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Manipur, the Jiribam District Police observed its 1st Anniversary on January 1 at the entry gate of the district.

In the welcome address, the Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Jiribam Th Sanatomba Singh said that the Inner Line Permit system came into effect in Manipur from January 01, 2020 .

On the completion of one year, around 35 lakhs rupees were collected as fees from ILP pass at Jiribam District.

Altogether 32490 nos.of Form 'G' were issued and 1306 Form 'G' were renewed, he added.

Kh Janaki Devi, Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha, Jiribam said that the extension of ILP passes in the State will be able to control the influx of illegal immigrants into the State.

She added the State was brought under the ILP system by the BJP government considering the requirement of the indigenous people of Manipur.

The Inner Line Permit System is significant for the border district of Manipur, it is good for the people of Jiribam as well as for Manipur at large, she stated.

Moirangthem Mubi Singh, SP Jiribam said that the ILP system was introduced in the State after a very long struggle; such extension of Inner Line Permit system gives feeling of security to the people of Manipur from illegal influx.

He added, due to the extension of ILP in the State, we are able to detect many illegal foreigners in the ILP gate since the previous year.

He also stated that as the Jiri River shrinks its size during winter season and the water level in the river reduces to knee level in various places, it poses a challenge to the police personnels of Jiribam to guard the porous waterway of Jiri river from illegal intrusion.
