Imphal, October 31 2022: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has stated that Manipur is heading forward towards development including improvement in connectivity with other States, and appealed to the public to join hands and work together for further development of the State.

The Chief Minister was addressing the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas observation at 1st Bn Manipur Rifles Parade Ground today.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister expressed his desire to witness seriousness of all State Government officials, specially high ranking officers during such observations.

N Biren stated that the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is observed every year on 31st October from 2014 to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

He continued that every citizen of the country should know the importance of the observance.

He said, "As Indians we all should take such National observations with all seriousness.

"We have been able to live a life with dignity and honour, only because of being citizens of India, bom in the State of Manipur.

As such we should have the highest honour for our country and birthplace", he added.

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is revered across the world as a world leader because of his works , the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister said that the Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instilled self confidence in every Indian.

Under the initiative, the country has made many strides, he said, highlighting laying of foundation for aircraft manufacturing facility in Gujarat, export of fighter planes to other countries and launching of commercial satellites, among others.

The Chief Minister also highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's virtual speech at the recently held "Chintan Shivir" on internal security and drugs related border management held at Surajkund, Haryana under the initiative of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

He said that the Prime Minister had emphasised, "We have to be very careful because those trying to disintegrate and destabilise the country are not only insurgents, terrorists and Naxalites but there are also many intellectuals and nonprofit organizations which are operating under foreign funding to disintegrate the country and its States".

He also spoke on the huge quantities of illegal drugs smuggled into India from neighbouring countries, adding that many foreign countries are trying to destabilize the peaceful condition of the country.

Biren also emphasized that Central leaders are taking the issues of States very seriously, as any problem related to security and other reasons affect the whole country.

He maintained that the ways of tackling and solving issues related to North Eastern States had changed as the Central leaders always think for the welfare of its people.

He appreciated the Union Home Minister's approach to UG groups asking them to come back to the mainstream.

The Chief Minister also narrated the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during India's freedom struggle and integration of Indian States after attainment of independence.

One of his precious gifts to the country was his role in the integration of provinces and Princely States under the Indian Independence Act 1947, to make a united and strong India, the Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister thanked all the armed forces personnel posted in the State for their tireless services rendered for the security of the State.

Biren also inspected a march past parade and administered the Rashtriya Ekta Di was pledge to all who attended the function.

The march past parade led by parade commander Dy CO 2nd MR N Suraj Singh was participated by contingents of BSF, CRPF, combined Manipur Rifles (male), combined IRB (male), civil police, Imphal West (male), civil police, Imphal East (male), 9th IRB Mahila, NCC Boys and NCC Girls.
