TPR dips as state records 801 new cases, 15 fatalities
nearly half of active cases are in home isolation; July records highest infection cases

Imphal, July 31 2021: For the second consecutive day, the state witnessed fall in the daily positivity rate of Covid-19 as Saturday reported 15 fatalities along with 801 new positive cases out of 6465 samples tested to register positivity rate of 12.39 per cent.

On Thursday, the state recorded 15.03 per cent positivity rate while it was 13.10 per cent on Friday.

July 1 registered the lowest positivity rate for the month at 11.39 per cent while July 26 saw the highest at 20.23 per cent.

The state has recorded 69,099 positive cases and 1182 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.

July recorded the highest count with 28,709 new cases and 406 fatalities out of which 7039 new cases and 91 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

Despite the threat of Delta variant, high positivity rate the state is experiencing and CM's earlier statement on reducing home isolation cases, nearly half of the active cases are in home isolation.

The active caseload has come down to 10,540, out of which 4703 (44.62 per cent) are in home isolation, 2931 (27.81 per cent) are in CHICs, 1874 (17.78 per cent) in CCCs, and 1032 (9.79 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 141 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 422 are on oxygen support and 65 on ventilator support.

At the same time, 104 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Friday night, 67 beds (20 ICU/HDU) are available in government hospitals, 89 (30 ICU/HDU) in private hospitals, six (3 ICU/HDU) in LF School Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, 141 (16 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals & CHCs, and 1368 beds in different CCCs.

According to official reports, the 801 new cases included 792 people (369 male & 423 female) from among the general population and 9 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (28), JNIMS (64), District Hospitals (512) and other testing centres (197) .

The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (194), Imphal West (213), Thoubal (69), Bishnupur (54), Kakching (68), Ukhrul (5), Churachandpur (97), Chandel (7), Senapati (14), Tamenglong (11), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (4), Noney (20), Pherzawl (19), Kangpokpi (12) and Kamjong (2).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 15 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no gender and age information have been provided by the committee.

The district wise distributions are Imphal West (3), Imphal East (3), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (2), Kangpokpi (1), Churachandpur (2) and Chandel (1).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1556 .

Out of 15 victims, six had first dose vaccines and four did not have any co-morbid conditions.

In the last 24 hours, 981 patients were discharged from home isolation (412), RIMS (17), JNIMS (2), CCCs (252) and CHICs (298) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 98,499 (general population - 94,513 and CAPF personnel - 3,986).Number of recovered cases is 86,403 (general population - 82,468 and CAPF personnel - 3,935) and number of active cases is 10,540 (general population - 10,494 and CAPF personnel - 46) .

The recovery rate is 87.72 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1976 D-type and 495 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 16,179 vaccine doses were administered on Friday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 10,98,387 including 2,07,926 who have received both doses of Covid-19.Meanwhile, 48 new positive cases were detected out of 387 samples tested from Friday 2 pm to Saturday 2 pm in Kakching district.

Three cases were detected at Ema Hospital, three at Jivan Hospital and 42 at different government RAT sites.

All are residents of Kakching district.

As per information received from the DSO Kakching, the cumulative number of infected people in the district has reached 5598 out of which 629 are active cases.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (32,980), Imphal East (22,047), Thoubal (8279), Churachandpur (8397), Kangpokpi (2356), Tamenglong (2768), Bishnupur (7207), Senapati (1772), Ukhrul (1744), Kakching (5529), Chandel (1928), Noney (837), Tengnoupal (944), Jiribam (952), Kamjong (563) and Pherzawl (196) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (531), Imphal East (371), Thoubal (141), Churachandpur (134), Kangpokpi (50), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (146), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (19), Kakching (94), Chandel (29), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (10), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 31,743 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,673 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,50,287 tests per million population against the national average of 3,34,451 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 6465 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 12.39 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.06 per cent.
