Positive cases cross 17 thousand mark with 245 new cases

Imphal, October 24 2020:
For the second time this month, COVID-19 death toll rose by six during the last 24 hours.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, two women aged 72 and 75, both belonging to Imphal East, one 82-year old man from Imphal West and a 46-year old man from Kangpokpi died at JNIMS during the last 24 hours.
Another 79-year old woman from Imphal East and a 53-year old man from Imphal West died at RIMS and Shija Hospital.
All six of them were COVID-19 positive.
Taking into account the latest victims, the COVID-19 death toll has reached 138 in the State.
This is the second time six COVID-19 deaths in 24 hours were recorded within this month after the same number of people fell prey to the virus on October 14 .
On October 23, five people had also fallen prey to the virus.
In the meantime, 245 persons including 12 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the contagion during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Imphal West, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Imphal Hospital, IRL, Ascent Diagnostics, Kakching, Raj Medicity, Imphal East, RD Wing, Tengnoupal, Thoubal, Shija Hospital, CMC, Hillside Hospital, Tamenglong, Mothers Care, Advance Hospital, Samaritan Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Chandel, Senapati and Jivan Hospital.
The 233 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (91), Imphal East (31), Thoubal (38), Chandel (7), Kakching (8), Kangpokpi (1), Tamenglong (32), Churachandpur (8), Tengnoupal (1), Senapati (5), Noney (3) and Bishnupur (8) .
None of them has any significant history of travelling outside the State.
Meanwhile, the cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases has crossed 17,000 as the figure now stands at 17,022 (general population 14316, Central security personnel 2706) .
It includes 4165 active cases (general population 3861, Central security personnel 304) and 12719 discharged cases (general population 10321, Central security personnel 2398).The recovery rate as on Saturday is 74.72 per cent.
Meanwhile, 517 COVID-19 positive people are currently under home isolation whereas 933 positive cases have been discharged (from isolation) .
A late report informed that 13 samples were found positive out of 56 tested today at JNIMS.
Out of 69 samples subjected to Rapid Antigen Test at Thoubal today, eight were found infected by the virus.
On the other hand, 157 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (8), home isolation (12), RIMS (5), JNIMS (15), Sadbhavna (6), Lanva (5), Kakching (3), Ukhrul (1), Tamenglong (1), CCC UNACCO (19), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (50), Lamding (16), Bal Bhavan (6), Thoubal (4) and Senapati (6) .
