41 more test positive to take total to 500

Altogether 41 people who have been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 tested negative today as the State recorded an equal number of new COVID-19 positive cases during the last 24 hours.
According to a press release issued by the Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 41 samples were tested positive for COVID-19 at JNIMS and RIMS since last night.
25 people were found positive at JNIMS while another 16 were tested positive at RIMS.
The total number of positive cases in Manipur now stands at 500 and the number of active cases is 341, said the Additional Director and added that the total number of recovered cases is 159 and the recovery rate is 31.8 percent.
Out of the 41 people who have been tested positive, 11 belong to Imphal West and Senapati districts, nine to Ukhrul and two to Thoubal.
Residential information about the other positive people are not available till the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, 34 people undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at RIMS tested negative today.
Seven others too tested negative at JNIMS.
All the 41 would be discharged soon.
The COVID-19 training team has so far imparted training to 522 Medical Officers, 917 staff nurses, 349 allied health care providers, 902 ANMs and 1573 ASHAs, Dr Sasheekumar mentioned in his press release.
On the other hand, Bishnupur DC Neeta Arambam has directed 20 residents of Kwakta and Borayangbi to undergo strict home quarantine along with immediate activation of Quarmon App until further notice.
After their return from Gujarat, the 20 people were kept at the community quarantine centre at Lalpani High School, Jiribam for 14 days.
They were discharged from the quarantine centre on June 11, said an office memorandum issued by the DC.
The DC also instructed one Ajmol of Kwakta Ward No 3 to undergo strict home quarantine.
Anyone found violating the strict home quarantine order would be booked and penalised immediately under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, mentioned the office memorandum.
