COVID-19 tally hits 1366, recovery surpasses active cases

The State recorded 41 new cases of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 1366 .
These include 677 active cases and 689 recovered cases which means the recovery rate has surpassed the active cases.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Kh Sasheekumar, 21 samples were tested positive at RIMS and 20 others at JNIMS during the last 24 years.
18 of them belong to Kamjong district, one each to Churachandpur, Imphal East and Noney, two each to Tamenglong and Ukhrul, six to Imphal West and four to Kakching.
The man belonging to Churachandpur district is said to be a Head Constable of BSF posted at STC Churachandpur.

He returned to Imphal from Delhi in an Air Asia flight on June 27 .
All his close contacts have been pulled for necessary test.
On the other hand, 15,000 COVID-19 rapid testing kits would arrive at Imphal tomorrow and they would be dispatched to Jiribam the next day.
The ASI of Jiribam district police who is the first police personnel to be tested positive for COVID-19 in the State went to Silchar Medical College for child delivery of his wife in May.
After the child delivery, he again went to Silchar for health check-up of his wife during the same month.
The ASI also took part in screening people who came back to the State by train at Jiribam railway station.
Notably, the time the ASI went to Silchar and came back was when all the people coming back to the State from outside were put in institutional quarantine centres mandatorily.
Even though the ASI went to Silchar in May, his sample was collected only on June 24 before the result turned out positive on June 30.During the meeting of the State Consultative Committee on COVID-19 held yesterday with Chief Minister N Biren in the chair, the DGP reportedly stated that the ASI was put under home quarantine.
However, the ASI's wife and child have been tested negative for COVID-19 .
It is still not known how and where the ASI contracted the contagion.
Meanwhile, 190 samples were collected from Jiribam and sent to RIMS today.
As of Sunday, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Jiribam district is 36 including 31 active cases.
To assist health officials battling COVID-19 in Jiribam, Health Department has decided to send a medical team to Jiribam with PPE, masks and other necessary kits.
It is said that surveillance activity within Jiribam district would be further intensified.
Notably, a complete lockdown has been imposed in Jiribam district till July 15 after 27 police and VDF personnel were tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.
