Covid claims 5 more to take tally to 189

Five more persons succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking the State's death toll to 189 while the total number of positive cases has touched 19,503 with 261 fresh infections.
The five victims include three from Imphal East including a woman, one from Imphal West and one from Bishnupur district.
While three of them succumbed at JNIMS Hospital, the other two died at Shija Hospital.
Of the three from Imphal East, two men aged 77 and 56 died at JNIMS Hospital while the woman, 68, died at Shija Hospital yesterday night.
The third victim at JNIMS was a 67-year-old man from Imphal West.
The victim from Bishnupur was a 72-year-old man and he died today morning, said sources.
Meanwhile, as many as 262 persons including one personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the number of total cases to 19,503, said a report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room issued by Additional Director Health, Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
The 261 civilians who tested positive for COVID-19 hail from Imphal West (124), Imphal East (47), Bishnupur (25), Thoubal (18), Tamenglong (15), Churachandpur (9), Kangpokpi (6), Kakching (6), Ukhrul (5), Chandel (2), Tengnoupal (2), Jiribam (1) and Senapati (1) .
All of them have no significant travel history.
They are being shifted to COVID-19 care facilities and all necessary medical precautionary measures are in place, said the report.
On the other hand, the number of recovered cases has reached 15,618 pegging the recovery rate at 80.07 percent.
158 persons have been discharged after recovery from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
54 of them recovered while in home isolation.
The remaining have been discharged from COVID-19 Care centres of CAPF (10), JNIMS (6), RIMS (12), LKK (9), UNACCO (8), LANVA (2), RD Wing (10), PR School Kakching (2) .
TK Ukhrul (1), Sadhbhavna (1), JNV Chandel (6), Noney (5), Tamenglong (5), Kangpokpi (3), Thoubal (4), Jiribam (2), Lamding (15) and Bishnupur (3) .
The cumulative number of COVID-19 positive cases is 19,503 including 16,714 civilians and 2,789 Central security personnel.
The number of active cases is 3,698 including 3,395 civilians and 303 security personnel.
The number of recovered cases is 15,618 including 13,136 civilians and 2,482 security personnel, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
A late report from JNIMS said the hospital tested 326 samples from Imphal East and found 69 persons positive for COVID-19.The cases include 7 personnel of IGAR South, 7 from Brahmapur Maibam Leikai, 8 from Naharup Leikai, 10 from Kongba Uchekon and 6 from Kongba Khaidem.
77 persons also tested positive for COVID-19 in Imphal West district.
They include four from Bamdiar, 5 from Yumnam Leikai, 8 from Patsoi Part-IV and 5 from Khaidem Awang.
