Toll touches 35, recovery surpasses fresh infections

Even as the recovery rate surpassed fresh infections by COVID-19 during the last 24 hours, the contagion claimed one more life at Shija Hospital this morning.
Sources informed that a 56 year old woman from Thoubal district was brought to the emergency ward of Shija Hospital last midnight.
On testing, she was found infected by COVID-19 and she died at around 3.40 am .
It was said that the woman was suffering from diabetes.
Taking into account the latest victim, COVID-19 death toll has risen to 35 in the State.
The victims include nine from Thoubal district.
Meanwhile, Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen was tested negative for the contagion at JNIMS today.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 125 COVID-19 patients were discharged during the last 24 hours following recovery against 90 fresh infections detected during the same period.
After they were found COVID-19 free, 125 patients were discharged from CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (28), UNACCO (36), RIMS (2), JNIMS (2), Churachandpur (17) and CAPF (37) .
Altogether 90 people including 24 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the virus during the last 24 hours at JNIMS, Jiribam, Shija Hospital, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Imphal Hospital, Imphal East RAT, Asian Hospital, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Imphal West, RD Wing, Tengnoupal, Babina Diagnostic Centre, Raj Medicity and Maipakpi.
Of the 66 civilians who have been tested positive, 10 belong to Imphal West, 12 to Imphal East, 13 to Bishnupur, eight to Thoubal, three to Jiribam, two to Kakching, 15 to Tengnoupal and three to Ukhrul, and none of them has any history of travelling outside the State.
The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 6699 (general population 5046, Central security personnel 1653) including 1765 active cases (general population 1186, Central security personnel 579) and 4899 discharged cases (general population 3827, Central security personnel 1072) .
The recovery rate as on Friday is 73.13 per cent.
COVID-19 People's Task Force and Indian Red Cross Society carried out awareness campaign on the contagion in Imphal West district today.
Out of 337 samples tested today at JNIMS, 30 were found positive.
Further, six fresh positive cases were detected in Thoubal.
Meanwhile sources in Imphal West district administration informed that 56 fresh cases of COVID-19 infection were detected today in the State.
The fresh positive cases belong to Kodompokpi (12), Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai (2), Yaiskul Chingakham Leikai (7) and Thangmeiband Muji Khul (4) .
