Highest number of deaths recorded with 9 in 24 hours

Imphal, November 02 2020:
The State witnessed the highest number of single-day COVID-19 deaths during the last 24 hours with nine people succumbing to the virus at Raj Medicity, RIMS and JNIMS.
This brings the total number of deaths to 180 .
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, five residents of Imphal West, three of Thoubal and one resident of Bishnupur died of COVID-19 at Raj Medicity, RIMS and JNIMS.
Four of the victims from Imphal West are males aged 58, 80, 71 and 70 .
The fifth victim is a 55-year old woman.
The three victims from Thoubal are two females and one male.
The females were 77 years and 55 years old.
The male victim was 43 years old.
The lone victim from Bishnupur is a 35-year old man.
In the meantime, 341 people including 28 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the contagion at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Raj Medicity, Maipakpi Hospital, Mothers Care, Shija Hospital, Iboyaima Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Pherzawl, Thoubal, Tamenglong, Noney, Ukhrul and Babina Diagnostics.
The 313 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (149), Imphal East (78), Thoubal (43), Kangpokpi (2), Noney (2), Ukhrul (1), Bishnupur (9), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (22) and Tengnoupal (4) .
None of them has any significant history of travelling outside the State.
On the other hand, 278 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (20), home isolation (131), JNIMS (4), RIMS (3), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (11), CCC UNACCO (21), Ukhrul (1), RD Wing (10), Kakching (12), Chandel (1), Moreh (1), Kangpokpi (7), Thoubal (27), Senapati (1), Lamding (11), Kasom Khullen (4), Phungyar (2), Bishnupur (9) and Bal Bhavan (2) .
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the State has reached 19091 (general population 16303, Central security personnel 2788) .
It includes 3568 active cases (general population 3246, Central security personnel 322) and 15343 discharged cases (general population 12881, Central security personnel 2462), The recovery rate stands at 80.36 per cent.
A late report informed that eight samples were found positive out of 142 samples tested today at JNIMS.
At Thoubal, six samples were found infected by the contagion out of 95 samples subjected to Rapid Antigen Test.
Out of 109 people who tested positive in Imphal West district today, 14 are Fire Service personnel, 22 are residents of Mayang Langjing while one is a resident/staff of the CM Bungalow.
