Yet another CBI inquiry

[ Sun, May 10, 2009 10:28 am ]

It is learnt that a CBI inquiry is being set up to know the killings of our beloved Dr. Kishan who was the then state civil servant. But how long we the people of Manipur wait for such atrocities in the name of freedom struggle. Many people are lost and the state government in power does not pay any attention to the grievances instead Mr. Ibobi try to suppress this by appointing his wife for the vacant post which is illegal so it is the time that we should wake up from such calls and it is never too late.

Ideology and its consequences

[ Sun, May 03, 2009 7:27 pm ]

I am currently not a permanent resident of Manipur, but as a Manipuri I was shocked to hear the killing and dumping the bodies in Senapati by NSCN-IM. I read the news everyday waiting to hear the justice. Still now I can't see any reasult. Instead the people forget about it. IM fooled the Manipuris. Issac Muivah, a Manipuri betrayed his own birthplace for some political profit. What they are demanding? and from whom they want from Manipur or from India to fulfilled their demand? They don't know what they want? It is clear that they are disturbing their own people, Manipuri. Muivah he is talking about Naga. But he doesn't know who Nagas are? Whatever he is doing, it indirectly affects all other poor people, not only Naga, also Kukis, Muslims, Meitees who are living far from the city. Muivah is trying to put the Naga inhabited area under one roof, but how? He ever try to give the explanation. In theory it looks beautiful, but in practical it's impossible. At first he have to make Naga people to agree with him. How many Nagas agree with him? He don't know....And the most important part is he don't know what the consequences it will be. I am not against his idea of Naga people but Im against the consequance of his ideology and his work towards the people. How much I know, his dream will not come true. But lots of poor helpless people will suffer. This will be a fact one day. He is showing as if he want to do good for the Nagas. He is looking for his power and publicity as a God-father of the Naga people. He doesn't know that to live in peace in your own home you have to have a friendly relation with the neighbour.

Greatest loss in the face of Manipuri mankind

[ Thu, Apr 23, 2009 5:53 am ]

This mail is not to question the integrity of the JAC for Dr. Kishan\'s death but to seek the rational behind the poll boycott. It was not fair to call for a blanket poll boycott. Was the poll boycott to show that the present government is incapable? If it is then it was a rare opportunity to throw this present government from power. By calling a boycott the JAC have denied the public the opportunity to elect a stable government which would not make Manipur a killing field. Dr. Kishan's mother too had supported the poll boycott. If she was not happy with the way present government is handling her son's case, then she should have helped people elect a better party to the power rather than call for boycott. It is not only about congress. Be it any political party in power. If they are responsible for turning Manipur into a mess, then that party should be shown the door. Unfortunately it happened to be Congress and they need to be shown the door. Whatever be my views, I am with Dr. Kishan\'s family and will always be a supporter of Dr. Kishan's ideology. His untimely demise would one day be the greatest loss in the face of Manipuri mankind. The present generation may not realise it. And how can they realise it when they are under the leadership of corrupt people who encourages and teaches others to be corrupt. Until one people realise that by being corrupt, it is not going to make Manipur any better, stay away from these corrupt leaders/people. Regards, Gautam

JAC should NOT boycott election

[ Wed, Apr 22, 2009 9:35 am ]

I am not sure how far this rumour is true that the JAC's for Dr. Kishan's death are getting paid from Congress for boycotting election. But one thing is for sure that people living in and around Imphal area have no desire to support Congress in this forth coming Lok Sabha election. Supporting them would mean letting them make Manipur a killing field for some more years. When it is clear that Congress is not getting enough votes from the Imphal area, then why the JAC's are boycotting election and missing the opportunity of making Manipur a peaceful place. Congress dominated areas like Thoubal and other areas will cast their 100% vote to the Congress. Then why should the non congress dominated areas miss this opportunity. I think the role of the JAC's need to be investigated. Well I could be wrong but from what I hear from my surroundings it looks obvious!!!!!!!!!

NSCN becomes the Prime Minister of Manipur!

[ Sat, Apr 11, 2009 8:36 am ]

Tied up my hands on the keyboard, to acknowledging the brutal murdering of Kishan and his gangs. Known from the papers of how and why they were hack to death and also by whom did that. The almighty NSCN, yes they were the one. But the question is why not the Government took any comprehensive actions to them. I overheard, the case has been given to CBI to look in. Its really ridiculous to hear that, CBI to NSCN. NSCN are the terrorist, they killed govt machinery inside Manipur and the case being handover to the CBIs. Then what's Ibobi doing? What he is for. Manipur commandos are active in annihilating the meetei insurgencies, but not a piece of NSCN, so does the Ibobi led govt. Now NSCN becomes the Prime Minister of Manipur, the first ever in the history of mankind. Because whatever they did or do no actions against them. This is a message to the manipuries of our better tomorrow.

Propagate the issue for every three hours

[ Thu, Apr 02, 2009 12:03 pm ]

Why our state government is inactive in every discussion of law and order. This is the duty of state government to keep alive Dr. Kishan and associate murder case. Chief Minister condemns for once and keeps quite. I don't know who the Information Minister in the state is. He should brief up the issue for every three hours in absence of Chief Minister. Manipur government always jumps to conclusion without briefing and discussion. This is a serious thread to the state machinery in the state. If NSCN(IM) is a Nagaland state outfit then Manipur state should blame the centre and Nagaland state government in every act of cross border activities in Manipur and Manipur should advise and propagate the issue for every three hours. Nagaland state sponsored outfits recruited poor Manipuri in the name of Naga political issues and make unrest to Manipur. Manipuri are supporting Naga political issues but state territory integrity would never compromise. Please advice our political leader to brief up for every hours in such a direction. Plese remind how Pronab Mukherjee briefing and publicised Pakistan after mumbai terrorist attack.

Barbaric act

[ Fri, Mar 06, 2009 6:05 am ]

We condemn killing of Dr. Kishan and co. branding it a barbaric act. Do we care to inspect how civilized our own community is?

The killing of Non-Manipuri by our own home grown goons are equally condemnable. Killing of hapless juice vendor is actually a filthy act. Let us first remove the log out of our own eye, and then we will see clearly to remove the speck out of our brother's eye.

A man of great honor

[ Sun, Mar 01, 2009 10:03 am ]

Few years ago I wrote an essay on E-pao regarding the responsibilities and duties of government employees in Manipur . I am recalling it , because I want to let people know that the characters and traits for the real dutiful person whom I was talking about is found in Dr. Thingnam Kishan. Committed to his work and duties and keeping personal gains and interest aside is rare in our society today. He sacrificed his life for the people. He resisted exploitation and corruption and that makes him a man of great honor. His sacrifice will not go wasted. Let the children and future generations be made aware about his life and determination, so that we can have thousands of Kishans and than only advance and co-exist peacefully. Wake up people and especially those who have the responsibility on their sholuder. May your soul rests in peace.

Max punishment to be given to murderers

[ Sat, Feb 28, 2009 10:31 am ]

The struggle to get justice done to the departed soul of the brutally murdered, Da Kishan and all those who hungrily long for the maximum punishment to be given to those murderers is just the begining. The animal instinct crime was committed by NSCN-IM in the soil of Manipur which claims to have an elecetd Government in a democratic manner. The quantum and nature of punishment to be given to those murderers must therefore be determined by law and should not, at any cost be allowed to be handled by whims and fancies of irreponsible any underground/overground terrorists such as the NSCN-IM. If at all, chief Minister Mr. Ibobi fails to do justice in this manner, it is very clear that he makes no sense for the ordinary lives of the people of Manipur, except for those terrorists who share illicit nexus to maintain their barbaric, unpardonable crimes such as corruption, extortion, bloody killings , murder- creating painful mental agonies and psychological warfare over generations.

The candle Light Vigil

[ Sunday, March 15, 2009 9:55:42 PM]

I have been following up closely on what's happening after we lost Dr. Th. Kishan and two of his staff.

My colleagues at work have always known Manipur as one beautiful, peaceful place tugged away amidst rolling hills. I try to make it sound as good as possible when I tell them about Her. Anything I say about Manipur is always about people living together happily, sharing whatever they have and caring for each other. I think I can't lie to them anymore now and they seem to have realised I've always been telling them lies.

At work, I made this mistake of opening the Virtual Candlelight Vigil page in front of my colleages. I was lighting a candle when a lady colleague walk over to my desk, looked at my monitor and asked, "Hey, what are you doing? Playing a game or what?"
I told her, "I'm doing this for the three people we lost recently."
Almost everyone in my Department know about the incident.
She said, "Well, that's nice. Let me light one after you are done."
I lit my candle and asked her to light hers. She click on the link again to launch the flash video. She could not light her candle. She shrieked and ran off! Soon, at least half a dozen people were gathered around my workstation thinking I showed her something scary.
I didn't realise, I did. She saw Dr. Kishan's body!
By then, the whole office was buzzing with people discussing about Manipur, particularly Dr. Kishan's demise. A friend of mine walked over to where I was sitting, pulled a chair for himself and sat down. He then looked at the slide one more time and asked me, "That's a very crude weapon they used, isn't it? Probably, made of stone or something."
"Hey tell me something. Is it true we still have unclothed canibals in the North-East? I read about it somewhere. Headhunters and all? This one looks like a still from the movie Apocalyto!"

That night, I reached home and cried ...

Kishan? Who?

[ Sunday, March 15, 2009 3:42:52 PM]

It's sad that the agitation for the recent brutal murder of Kishan and assistants by the NSCN has died down so fast. Those angry people are now happily celebrating Holi except for Kishan's family. I am sure his family would never love the Dhol sound of the Thabal celebrating at a nearby lampak. Don't the Kishan deserve justice? UNLF dissecting the facts and NSCN asking them to shut up does not mean justice. It seems like we have become a society who does not care about such acts anymore...Do not claim ourselves to belong to a race with a 2000 year history!! My foot!

Dr Kishan. I cant believe it

[Thu, Mar 05, 2009 1:38 am]

Dear Th kisan,
I cant belive that you would leave us so soon. I remember our days at Mansorowar Hostel, University of Delhi. The contribution you made for the promotion of Mongloid Peoples Forum Delhi and the cooperation you extended to the All India Tribal Students Association Delhi is still as fresh as last night in my mind. I met you last somewhere in the year 2004 near kaisampat when I came home (Zoveng, CC Pur). I still remember the moment I encouraged you to continue your social activities when I sat with you for a minute in your dharna demanding for regularlisation of Adhoc Lecturers in Manipur University. Kishan, You are my proud mongloid brother as i used to say in Mansorowar Hostel somewhere in 1994. I remember the moment I console you when your cousin brother suddenly left us and so is now with you. I really dont understand and can't belive that any sensible person would do such heinous act to you.
I pray for the bereaved family. Fondly love and remember.
Your Brother.

Kill to kill

[ Fri, February 27, 2009 6:09 am ]

Are we the people of Manipur ready to go ahead with the current scenario which is getting worse from Extremism to Terrorism? I dont think so! Is the so claimed extremist coming from the like minded people with the cause of the people actually true?

Generally groups which think that they are working for the good of the society have proven wrong a many times. Todays Killing of Mr Th Kishan & his colleagues(al Meitei) & return of the other Tankhul collegues has slapped the Government of Manipur & Govt of India. Who is protecting who and who is the government whose rules and regulation that we respect is a question which no one will be ready to answer.

I would like to answer this question if I have been asked and the answer will be that I want to be myself be free from all the troubles which you have brought in the name of your homeland and community & also would like to ask you few question that,
Are you that much educated that even you can spell the name of the person you are killing?

Can you sit in the place of the person who you have killed and try thinking of the same changes which he had thought of?

Do you even know what actually the meaning of CAUSE is?

Does your community accept the Violence you are into?

You say you are killing the bad things in your environment and going towards development, what is that development or change which will come after the Kill, leaving aside the HATE factor between the communities?

You are continuing to kill calling it the cleansing of the society but you are killing to make others kill to continue the kill.

Well I dont think anyone feels secure living in Manipur as today different communities look with the eye of Hate to each other.

Communities like Naga promote hate factor in news even the leaders bluntly talk communal in magazine such as North East Sun etc. And the Human rights group never revokes on these statements which can fan anti communal feelings.

The Govt of India is watching as usual and we are trying to act smart to each other forgetting that we had our existence together.

This is a question which every one of us has in mind, that does the cease fire agreement between the any group and the GOI allow the group to operate freely, re-group, get all money required during these time and put all pressure to Govt, of INDIA / State Govt, officials to get what they feel is good even if it is not in the interest of the common man.

Well this also shows that the GOI is not interested in resolving the matter..

Killing a person who holds an important position by some one who do not even know the A, B, C of governance or administration or department is just very hilarious whether it be done by any group.

I wonder how many educated people does these groups have and how educated they are that they decide to kill the Human which is much more precious than them in quality, education, vision & has the guts to work only on vision of progressing together.

Organizations have never shown any VISION of future had they shown the people the VISION of future which they say is bright all community and people would have been with them. Like what they did today they have proved that they do not respect human lives whether it be Indian Army or civilian community actually for such groups there is no difference and they dont want to make a difference.

At least the we should realize that Govt of India is playing dirty politics of divide and rule in which all the groups are partners and the people are the looser.

I would appeal that please remember that every community in Manipur has always been calm and please do not provoke, else it will provoke the Kill to Kill policy which every human has.

Deeply sad and angry to hear the news of Dr. Th. Kishan

[ Thu, Feb 26, 2009 3:10 am]

I am deeply sad and angry to hear the news of Dr. Th. Kishan, though I have never met him. I cannot stop crying in my heart by questioning, "Why do my lovely Manipur and Manipuri have to be suffered from such sorrow against their hope?" Is it for corrupted person? Or is it for a corrupted mind of that person? Or is it for a philosophy to bring the corrupted mind?

In these centuries, technology and knowledge have developed drastically; however, the people themselves have not been parallel with. If someone like to claim for "revolution," it should be neither in society nor in system, but in human perspective over a value of other's life, by which a human himself can be differentiate from other animals. I read an article in somewhere on a Japanese educational reformer, who was active against Japanese militarism during 1930-40s, Now the world and society seek for winning a competition in politics, and also in economy. Then, in future, they would be pursuit for humanity. We must compete how much we can devote for others happiness. It means we must be awaken of a value of life both oneself and others. And that is the purpose of education. When I recall my memory of friendship with Manipuris for the past 10 years, it is always filled with appreciation to their kindness and love. Lovely Manipur, please remember I am always watching you and praying for peace of the land and the people.

Kishan :: a man who wanted to bring 'change' in Manipur - a place he loved most

[ Wed, Feb 25, 2009 4:22 am]

Sometime between 1990 and 1992, a difference of opinion had surfaced between Manipuri students studying in Delhi University and Jamia Millia University over some small issues in MSAD (Manipur Students' Association, Delhi). Kishan and I were working together in MSAD at that point of time. I remember his leadership quality and the way he stood for unity. It was Kishan who resolved the issue by convincing both sides and helped MSAD work as a united force.

To me, Kishan will always been remembered as a man who wanted to bring 'change' in Manipur - a place he loved most. I met him once after he returned back to Imphal and asked him why he left a lecturer's job in Delhi. Kishan told me that he wanted to do something for Manipur and help in bringing some positive change in our rotten system. He sacrificed his life in trying to bring that 'change' he had dreamt. A tribute to this brave man can only be meaningful if we all contribute in helping to make his dream of 'change' come true.

Selfish and hypocrite underground

[ Wed, Feb 25, 2009 7:29 am]

Dear Bro and Sis of Manipur,
I am so sad to hear such news ( killing civilian ) again and again. I am 100000000000000000...0000000% sure that those underground who have killed the SDO of Kasom Khullen are the MOST hypocrite and the MOST uncultured people ever produced in the land of Manipur. They ( the undergrounds) never think that they are committing a crime by killing innocent people. They ( the undergrounds ) extort common people forcefully and at the same time they are killing people in the name of corruption or injustice. Remember to kill someone is more injustice than corruption. Was the SDO a really a corrupt person? How much do you know about his life? What have you done for the state and the people? Do you know the effort and Labor one need to put to produce such person? Look at him, did he ever harm anyone? What was the good reason of harming him? Because of you people the peace in the state is distorted and devastated. If we continue with this trend no one will survive in the state. Dear family of Dr. Thingnam Kishan and his friend who were murdered by the useless and hypocrite gangsters we stand next to you all. May the peace of God rest with you all.

The value of a civil servant!

[ Tue, Feb 24, 2009 1:42 am]

It is indeed a great lost to the state and to the country the life of late Dr Kishan. Being a civil service aspirant, I know how hard he must have struggle to reach the destiny, and within no time his goal are scattered. It's said that the value of life is known only by the person who know the value of his own life, there is also another saying, If u can't do any good for a person atleast dont be a obstace in the path. I can feel how much hard time, the family might be going through. There are more than 1000 of students from Manipur who appeared for Indian Civil Services exams every year and with all this impact, I'm sure many of my fellow seniors and freinds, would definitely think about regarding their choice of service, and place of postings, if they are to be posted in Manipur.

But i belief things will improve as a lot of young generation are coming forward to take up the cause, may be in the police dept. civil service ect.

Kindly wake up Manipur, plzzzzzzzzzzzz

[ Sat, Feb 21, 2009 2:30 pm ]

HI TO MANIPUR, WHICH IS KNOWN AS LAND OF JEWELS, well its very hard to say this if we see the current condition of manipur. I am a manipuri but feel shy to say that i belongs to this place which once i used to be proud. It becames the land of killing people. I am far from my hometown,i use to have a lots of hope with the future of manipur, but now it is starting to vanish day by day.

In other part everyone is in the tense of recession but in manipur tense of living coz no one knows wats gonna to happen next moment, your own family member can even kill you. If the people which are living in the same place are destroying each others, it wont take even a second by others.Really from the core of my heart i feel very sorry with present scenario.growing students are unable to study properly. Education is the only means by which we can settle down the happening condition, but thats too is not properly maintain.

Please wake up manipur, try to acheive something rather than killing, men are born to dead. one or other day everyone is going to die,the matter is early or later. So its my humble request please please kindly stop killing people, dont create chaos.I am outside the manipur dooing MBA.

In my seminar i used to praise my state a lot, but when all these things happen i dont haive a word to reply them, really i am totally hurt. please have a mankind.kindly leave all this works and step in the world of competiton, where you wont find even a single second free. try to make yourself busy, than only we can become success.

I feel very sad

[ Sat, Feb 21, 2009 12:00 pm ]

I feel very sad when i heard about the brutal killing of Dr kishan, Rajen and Token. Everyday we heard about killing of people by police or militant. We the common people are used to it, this became a normal phenomenon to us. Frankly speaking every one living in manipur are corrupt from peasants to persons holding highest post. So in this situation if some one comes out to fight for truth then he is regarded as biggest fool. Every One is handicap now.we are not able to do any work freely, lots of barrier and obstruction are lying ahead. To fight with this, we need to change our attitude and way of thinking etc.

Hunger is more important

[ Sat, Feb 21, 2009 2:35 am ]

Well, After a long time, this is the first time, we again as the people of Manipur are of some similar opinion. It's good to see it. There are lot of states who might not have this kind of feelings but what use is this to us, if we cannot bank on it and plan to improve our state. Every 2 years or so, we have these incidents and after that it's all forgotten. Why??? Ours is a small state where the six degrees of separation might be made to 3 degrees of separation. So, why is there so much probs? Dont tell me it's because of the so called patriots aka naharol, the corrupted MLA's and officials. Now there is the case of killing of Dr. Kishan. Personally, I am sad for the family but there's nothing I can do for, I am a common citizen trying to go on without hunger in these days of social unrest. But lets see it in a way. Many people are killed by Armed Forces, Naharols, maybe IM . But why is it always so sensitive when it's concern with the integrity of 'Manipur'. I am not for breaking it but instead of showing unity for 'Integrity' alone, lets remember that 'Unity' for the development of Manipur also. I was there during the Great June Uprising, I know how it feels, the sentiment of people. I took part in most of the rallies, it was an unbelievable experience. Putting aside all this I will like to say 'A hungry soldier cares only about hunger, not on which side he fights'. And there are many hungry people out there in Manipur. They are like the hungry soldier. Hope the people, government, JACs and many other organization will know it and end this problem soon. And I am with-holding my name etc for who knows!!! And lastly, my condolences to all those who are enduring the curfew with an empty stomach. I know how it feels.

Why is the Government Silent?

[ Fri, February 20, 2009 1:08 pm ]

We are facing this crime the umpteenth time, this crime against public figures and common people in Manipur. Remember the Mumbai terror attack? The terror strike on 26/11 had shattered the people of the whole country and the world. How the public outcry exposed the impotency of the Government. Because of the public coming together as one force, pulled down the Union Home Minister and replaced the CM of Maharashtra. And very recently " The Pink Chaddi" Campaign, applause to those who started and took part in the campaign. The North-east of India, with Manipur in particular has been facing this terror in our lives for decades. When the rest of India is moving at a fast pace towards development, we are the few people still left in the primitive age. Why are the Governments (irrespective of State or Central) silent??? Don't they want to bring an end to this??? Don't they want to bring progress in the State??? If faith had been better at our home state, I would not be sitting here in a distant place far away from home and writing this article.

Ibobi is a specialist in Disaster Management

[ Fri, Feb 20, 2009 8:37 pm ]

They have done it again. Lets make it clear! Some group of self oriented, self educated, self styled army, self styled god father(s) has make it very clear that Valley and Hill people cannot be in the same constructive page. The people of Manipur who believes in constructive future of the 21st century generation should eradicate such people in the society once and for all. Mr. Ibobi is a specialist in Disaster Management, he needs to find a word "pro-active" in his dictionary.

Who is the real terrorist in Manipur?

[ Fri, Feb 20, 2009 4:05 pm ]

Raymond Ronamai , Yes, of course the poeple of Manipur have been waking up and fighting successfully against all odds. Manipuris and the world as whole will fight the war against terrorism one day. But who is the real terrorist in Manipur which is just a state of 2.5 millions people in a country of 1 billion. Manipur has produced so many talented sons and daughters but Manipur always get the bad names as terrorist infested state. Even common sense knows the perpetrator of the crime.

Prayer to deliver Kishan's soul to Heaven

[ Fri, Feb 20, 2009 10:25 am ]

On the night of February 17,2009, when I happened to see the headline "Condolence on Dr. Thingnam Kishan's Killing", on e-pao.net, I was very much shocked. I couldn't believe that it could be true. And yet my fear was confirmed. I felt like crying, and tears wouldnt come out. Dr. Kishan has been a very inspirational person, who would have definitely worked towards bringing about a change in Manipur. In the few instances I have met him, I have known him to be not only a dedicated teacher but also a dedicated Manipuri who would have worked towards a new Manipur. But SAD and it is most GRIEVING that such a person with immense potential has been mercilessly butchered. It is not only grieving but also frightening at the same time. Will such progressive-thinking and dedicated KISHANS be not given a chance in Manipur? Are they to be just annihilated.....? It is utterly depressing, shocking, and most grieving to read every now and then of the merciless and inhuman killing in Manipur. How long??? At the same time I can't help wondering at the IRONY of Dr. Kishan's fate. He gave up his teaching profession and took up the MCS ....for what?? To be killed before he could have achieved anything. It is indeed a great loss for Manipur and I pray that his soul rests in peace.

time to think and do constructively

[ Fri, Feb 20, 2009 2:02 am ]

This is a piece of information i would like to share with our fellow people through this mail. I may be wrong or I may be extreme in this case. Many people accept that human kind is started from one family or one small group. So, we should respect and share each other because human kind is the only animal who can think and remember. As the human kind expands for their livelihood or better living started different culture, customs, food-culture and habits in different parts of the world. And also established their diffrent ideas, ideologies, religions and political institutions in their respective places. So, world civilizations were started from different places by different communities or people from time to time. As we know we are now living in the twenty-first century, people are aware of their standard of living, way of lives, culture, tradition, morality and ethics etc.

But still some civilizations are under developed in some countries or some states. That is depending on the people who are residing at the place or area. Manipur named by alien people was once upon a time a sovereign kingdom for many years. It has its own civilization from the very begining with distinct culture, custom, tradition, language, script and religion. We the people know how to talk, how to behave and what to do and what not to do to other people. In a word, we have a kind-hearted with a strict discipline. But today, we hardly find such kind of people from our land, we can say, (in some ways or other ways) we have lost our identity, our culture and our religion. At first I want to say this is the main root-cause of our problems tody we are facing. Today, we lack of discipline, morality and ethics in every field like in most of the government departments, in social and political organisations etc. No one listen or bother to each other what other say or what other want. People are blaming to each other and they hate each other and they kill each other. Who will be the responsible for all these crimes and hatreds. So, ! if we are educated, if we are conscious, if we love our land then it is the time to think and to do something in constructive ways otherwise there would be no future of Kangleipak or so called Manipur...

Come together and defeat the merchants of hatred

[ Thu, Feb 19, 2009 9:57 am ]

It is moment of astounding greif and vehement anger. Any Human Being worth his salt wouldn't be able find a single word in the lexicon of brutality to describe the dastardly act of murdering the soul of a true Manipuri. It is the most heinous crime against the Human Values that bind together the lives of millions, irrespective of thier cultural, ethnic and religous denominations. It is time to gather courage and defeat the schemes of the merchants of hatred. It is the time to stand up with more resolve to permanetly defeat the divisive mindset which has been menacingly trying to unsettle the collecttive togetherness and unconditional harmony. Let's pledge to come together to make Manipur ever stronger so that the soul of brave son of our land who had a dream for his land may repose in HIS HEAVENLY ABODE, knowing that millions are on his side!
(May Almighty God shower his boundless heavenly blessings on all family members of Dr Kishen during this darkest phase)

Culprits should be punished in public

[ Thu, Feb 19, 2009 11:29 am ]

The culprits of this heinous crime should be punished infront of the public..its time for we people, the people of manipur, to realise that we ourselves are becoming the stumbling block in the development of our own place..as far as my opinion is concerned, I would follow the saying - 'an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth'.. fire cannot be shielded by a cloth, truth cannot be shielded by eliminating the truthful people... all of us should stand up against the killing of innocent people.

Barbarism still does exist

[ Thu, Feb 19, 2009 8:48 am ]

This has to be one of the best writeups I've seen around. It makes me cry and something somewhere in me questions: What the hell is wrong with my Manipur? It's my fourth year away from home but I still have the jar of earth I took when I left Manipur. I had it collected from my backyard - the same backyard where my mama still loves to spend her afternoon sipping tea and probably, thinking the same thing I'm thinking about right now. The other day I was reading something about a research on culture or something of that sort while waiting for a friend at an airport. There was this line that struck me: Barbarism still does exist in some remote parts of the World. I hoped they weren't refering to Manipur. I still hope... Let's all hope.

Manipur is already immune to bloodshed

[ Thu, Feb 19, 2009 4:04 am ]

America never took terrorism seriously until the World Trade Centre was brought down in 2001. The incident shocked the Americans so much so that they pledged to shun such tragedy once and for all. India too seems to have woke up after the recent terror attacks at Taj and Oberoi Hotels. The general public buried all their differences (social, political, economic, religious) and came together for one cause to curb terrorism, their common enemy. They succeeded to a great extend.

Sadly, Manipur, the hub of terrorism, is yet to wake up. Terrorists had taken the lives of many political leaders, scholars and innocent people in the past. They still continue to kill people but nothing happens and things are unlikely to change. It looks like the people of Manipur are already immune to bloodshed. The only outcome of bloodsheds in Manipur is so far bans and strikes that cripple the economy of the state and not 'collective struggle for peace.'

The visible outcome of the inhuman killing of Kasom Khullen SDO, Dr Thingnam Kishan and his two staff is once again bans and strikes. When will the people of Manipur start condemning such barbaric acts in spirit, words and deeds? When will the public leave behind all the differences and fight against the common enemy "terrorism"? The public should stand up now and say 'enough is enough'. Forget the impotent government and heartless politicians. People should not give room to terrorism of any kind for it has no face. But more bloodshed awaits Manipur if the public continue to provide shelter to terrorists belonging to their community.

silence is a sign of weakness

[ Thu, Feb 19, 2009 8:13 am ]

I am not able to find words how to condemn the barbaric murder of SDO and two of his subordinates. It hurts sentiments of not only the relatives of the victims but also the sentiments of all peace loving people of Kangleipak. People want to respond to this barbaric act, but people don't know how to respond. Many options are there but we have to choose the best one. We must do something that will prevent the barbarians to commit the same type of barbaric act. When there was an attack in Mumbai on 26th nov, 2008 the people of India want to respond, some wanted to attack Pakistan, people accused the Govt of India for not doing enough. Describing the feeling of the people of India at that time, Hindustan Times wrote an editorial saying 'you want to do something, but you don't know how to do... it is nothing but Impotence'. So, what we have to ask ourselves is are we impotent? can't we act? There is a limit for silence in the face of torture. Someone say silence is golden, silence is sign of strength. But, someone also says silence is a sign of weakness. What we have to remember is that we will be tortured and murdered as long as we allow them to do so.

Kishan as I have closely known

[ Thu, Feb 19, 2009 6:07 am ]

The section carrying the condolence messages on the brutal murder of Da Kishan is least expected since it derseves wider coverage and more voices form all sections. Kishan as I have closely known is one bright, rare effiecient and upright academician, a researcher, an activist and a fearless young administrator with a vision to transform an already death state where the the barbarics have repeatedly failed to cradle vsionaries and future great leaders, of whom kishan is one.
