Youths formed human chain in solidarity with North east people for unity and harmony at India Gate

On the call of Mission Bhartiyam, an organization by youths,people formed a human chain today at India Gate in solidarity with people of North East and victims of riots and violence.

Program coordinator Shekhar Jain told that we are really hurt by the recent ongoing violence and thus we feel that it is us (youths) who have responsibility to come forward and to show that we are against all violence and riots. He added that this human chain is a way to show our unity and solidarity, we also want to say that these violence and riots cannot disintegrate our society and we through our unity will rise everytime together.

Pankaj Pathak from Mission Bhartiyam told that we were hurt by this violence and its after effects. She told that though some organizations and individuals went their and helped in relief works, we also have responsibility towards our fellow citizens and it will be a good move if we all can come together to tell that we are one.

Ansaar who joined the human chain told that this is the time of national emergency, our society is in danger and people must know that they are human first, not the bodos , hindus, muslims etc.

Large number of students joined the move and conveyed their will towards unity and harmony. People who were there at India Gate also joined hands and showed solidarity for NE people. They souted slogans that 'we are one'.

Youths with the slogans of peace, non violence and harmony formed. Many placards were pinned with persons that displayed condemnation of violence and riots, one placard states 'Na Bodo Na Muslamaan, Sabse Pehle Hai Insaan. '

Statement issued by Mission Bhartiyam reads 'We were all sitting in our homes relaxed when a part of India was burning but then the flames also started spreading in other parts of India. We are talking about the tragic situation in Assam which ultimately send heat waves across India by forcing the North eastern people to flee back to their native places.

The Assam riots had began as a clash between the natives and the settlers and then a debate between natives and illegal immigrants from Bangladesh in North East and ultimately, got a communal flavor. There were rumours across the country threatening to attack north eastern people and forcing them to go back to their native places.'

We, as citizens of this country and as human beings, condemn this. We condemn the shock, the pain, the terror that the North Eastern people have to face. We also condemn these riots and violence in all forms.

We empathise with the people of North East and to show our solidarity and extend our support to them. Persons from other organizations also joined the chain.
