One day Workshop-hands on training on 'Manipur Map UP' at Manipur Institute of Technology(MIT) :: 24 November 2012

The final session for the Manipur Mapping using Google Mapmaker was organized on 24th of November 2012 at Manipur Institute of Technology(MIT) Campus. The other two events were organized at Institute of Co-operative Management(ICM) and National Institute of Technology (NIT) on 22nd and 23rd of November respectively by the same team. It is for the first time that such sessions were organized in the 3 different Institute with mutual co-ordination.

During the inaugural session Dr. Th. Kulachandra Singh, Principal, M.I.T. , N. Basanta Singh, Head of Department, (ECE and Th. Ibungomacha , Head of Department, (CSE), expressed the Importance of google in today's world. Role of Google with reference to tourism industry of Manipur was explained in detail and in co-incidence with the Manipur Sangai Festival. They said student can make use of this technology to contribute their local knowledge online and also emphasized that by doing such a project which will be beneficial to the society it will encourage the youth to become a better citizen was highlighted in their speeches.

The event was successfully organized by MIMS students Ningthem Ningombam , Siddhartha Laishram, Milton Ksh, Suranjoy Thokchom, Devabrata Singh, Phalguni, Rohit who took active initiative in organizing the event. The organizers have also created a "GOOGLE MANIPUR MAPUP" group in Facebook and have requested all students who participated in the events to join and get updated with all latest news and future projects that will be organized in the future.

These 3 events were a follow up of the Mapping event organized in Manipur University in joint co-ordination between Depart of life Sciences and Manipur Institute of Management Studies on 22nd October 2012 .

All the Management and staff of the 3 institutes namely ICM, NIT and MIT have appreciated and admired the students of MIMS for successfully conducting the workshop sessions in their respective Institutions.
