Support to people from Manipur based in Bengaluru on April 20 2020
MMAB (Manipuri Meitei Association Bengaluru) continues to support our community and people from Manipur based here in Bengaluru during this crisis related to COVID19 global pandemic.
We have successfully distributed food packages (5 Kgs Rice, 1 Kg Dal, 1/2 Oil, salt, Masala, Turmeric, Soap) to about 750 families (2000 people) and financial support of about INR 400 -500 to those we cannot visit. We have also helped a few needy people from other states.
MMAB also distributed food packages to few migrants along with Bengaluru Police.
MMAB, an association of well-settled Manipuri based here in Bengaluru a parental body, supported Bangalore Manipur Students’ Association (BMSA) a student wing working in the interest of Manipuri students.
MMAB and BMSA work in collaboration be it a cultural or supporting our people during calamities from time to time. MMAB also provided humble support to MDB (Manipuri Diaspora Bengaluru).

Spoke of key activities
1. MMAB ensured one Manipuri family is not evicted by the landlord because of some previous issues. MMAB President Maj Jhaljit and Chief Coordinator Yambem Arun personally engaged with the landlord in ensuring they are not evicted during the crisis and Lockdown period.
2. MMAB assisted three-stranded students from Kerala in providing accommodation and also supplied adequate food ration. They are from Kerala School of Sports).
3. MMAB assisted in evacuating stranded young school student (studying in Mangalore) and united with her relative here in Bengaluru. MMAB cultural Secretary Shanta Aribam, personally evacuated the girl and MMAB
President coordinated with Bengaluru police for the movement.
4. MMAB provided financial support to two members in Kerala who were in dire situation ensuring their well-being.
5. Contacted 41 girls’ students who were in need of food ration and provided all the required Support.
6. MMAB provided financial help to CIPET student & had just started working at Sunkattakate, Bengaluru.
MMAB have huge request pouring in and hence planning for next phase sometime in last week of April after hearing the Government announcement on 20th April 2020.
MMAB would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Bengaluru Police for their continued support especially Mahadevapura Police OC and to all the veterans who supported.
A special thanks to All Manipur Body Builders Association (AMBBA, President N. Ratan Singh and General Secretary, Yumlembam Sunanta) for their support and for recognizing the relentless effort of MMAB in fight
against COVID-19 and in ensuring the well-being of our people based here in Bengaluru. Their support will definitely help us to go a long way.
