ROBERT NAOREM SETS THE RAMP OF BANGALORE FASHION WEEK ABLAZE WITH MANIPURI HANDLOOM DESIGNS

6th August, 2018: Renowned Manipuri fashion designer, stylist and celebrity make-up artist, Robert Naorem enthralled the audience at Bangalore Fashion Week (BFW) 2018 by setting the ramp ablaze with his collection, ''Design in the weaves of Manipur'' on 5th August 2018.

Now in its tenth year, the three-day fashion week was held at The Ottera in Electronic City, Bangalore. Around 20 talented designers across the country participated at the event, creating sheer runway euphoria.

He has been the Make-up Director of BFW for the past 9 years and it was the first time he showcased his designs at the fashion week. Inspired by the state's rich tradition and handloom, Robert's collection consisted of three segments of designs – the fusion of traditional with modern generation designs, the designs of Manipur's age-old tradition and finally, the love and harmony between the hills and valley.

Speaking on the occasion, Robert said, ''I have been associating with BFW for quite long and it is a privilege for me to showcase my designs on the 10th year of Bangalore Fashion Week. I took up the challenge with an aim of taking Manipuri weaves to a global platform and making traditional handloom designs as a fashion trend among the youth of today. Consequently, it will help our weavers increase their production and have a strong market.''

Robert's show brought together 21 models including five from Manipur. There were two foreign models along with other super models from Mumbai and Bangalore. Teen sensation and renowned Manipuri footballer, Dheeraj closed the show as the showstopper.

Robert has been highlighting the importance to promote traditional weaves and he has showcased his designs on several global platforms. He hopes to inspire the weavers and also to raise awareness of Manipuri culture and designs globally.
