Revival of education and recruitment system
By: Nameirakpam Surjit Meitei *

Education system is the backbone of a society. The number of scholars a particular society has produced can gauge the development of a society and its state of education system. Therefore it is the need of the hour that education system of our state is not maligned and the purity and sanctity is restored. Quality education that caters to the need of the bright and ever mouldable young students is the need of the hour for our society to march ahead. Quality Education system juxtaposed by transparency in selecting right candidates for govt. post can also help the society in a great way. Education system with a sound recruiting system becomes all the more important when we look it from our state's perspective as educated people are the one who becomes teachers, doctors, engineers, lawyers, police officers and hold govt. post, to sum up they are the one who run the state.

If you see the present condition of education in our state there is a mark improvement in the education system as compared to the condition it was before a year or two. Thanks to the organization propaganding and striving to bring quality education to the state. People may not realize the importance of this step but this is a giant step taken forward and it will help Manipur a lot in the long run. For instance take the huge drop in the number of candidates clearing the class 10 and 12 exam after conduct of fair examination has been enforced. A conspicuous drop we see in the pass % is due to the eradication of use of unfair means. This drop has brought into limelight and proved the use of unfair means by large number of students to clear examinations. By eliminating unfair means and having only fair examination the state and students have a lot to gain. This will help only the deserving candidates to go for professional courses or continue their higher studies. It is also good from the perspective of the students who have failed as they will no longer remain in fool's paradise of continuing academic dreams where they will not scale heights or they don't have the expertise, So they will realize there weakness early in life and can divert their potential to vocational course or fitting stream of their strength rather then wasting time in studies in which they can't proof their mettle. Usually most of the parents are blinded by the love of their child and they end up never realizing the potential of the child and instead pressurize them to follow an academic dream in which the child will not excel. Here also a fair education system comes to rescue of the child by weeding out non-deserving students. Now the ever-doting parents blinded by the love of the child will realize the real potential of their child and they can guide their child in a different field where they are good and where they can excel.

Quality and fair education system going hand in hand with a transparent recruiting system can very effectively help in fighting the rampant corruption that is now visible and practiced in full swing in our state. When we conduct examination that is free of unfair means only the deserving candidates who have got the knowledge and academic ability pass the examinations. I think these is a better option rather then every tomba, chaoba, tombi passing exams by copying, albeit they don't have any notion about the subject. Before students who are not fit use to clear board examination through "the art of copying". They even go on to study professional courses, thanks to the know-how of greasing officials backdoor and use of money power by rich parents helped only by greedy govt. officials with no ethics. This practice of greasing officials is carried over till these students get govt. jobs at the cost of bright students. When we have good education system we posses a mechanism to segregate seed from chaff. So when the weeding mechanism is put at all level of board and university examination to sieve away such undeserving candidates the final output our society get is the creamy layer of students that has gone through the sieve of quality education at matric, 12, graduation and master level. This way you will have a chunk of deserving students separated from the gamut of undeserving candidates ready to fill vacancies in govt. post.

The education system is reviving now thanks again to the organization helping to bring about the change. To go more forward we need to have a system where we have a corruption free recruiting system for filling vacancies of govt post. I agree that this is a mammoth task, but we got to get rid of these huge obstacles if we have to surge ahead. Clerical recruitment can be done through SSC to eliminate corruption. Candidates having domicile of Manipur can be made eligible to write this exam conducted by SSC so that people from other states don't take up the vacancies of the clerical post. This is one of the practical solutions to weed out corruption when clerical staffs are recruited. We also need to change the corrupted world of MPSC. Organization involve in bringing quality education are best suited to help in resurgence of a new MPSC who recruit only deserving candidates. This way we will be able to identify the creamy layer of the students who have passed the test and grind of fair board and recruiting examinations and they will be the one who will become deserving doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers and hold govt. post. Now "right person for the right post" becomes a reality. This will put a thought in the subconscious mind each and every student that "Only hardwork work pays" and we will be able to accomplished the much needed revival of the education system and recruitment system for the betterment of the society. Such students who have passed through the grind of quality education and recruitment are less prone to corruption because they will value the fruits of hardwork.

When we have an education system and recruitments system free of unfair means we are sure of marching ahead. We will no more hear of bright students dropping out of school just because of the rustic system that have existed. All the post will be in hands of the right person who have earned the right to hold the post by their sheer hardwork. Bribing to pass exams and get job will be history. Mending our corrupted society through quality education and recruitment system will help us in joining the bandwagon of developmental race the whole world is undergoing now. Talented youngsters will be motivated to work hard knowing very well the fruit of hardwork. When people begun to realize the result of hardwork in a corruption free environment our society will grow in a fast pace. It's now the responsibility of the people to maintain the trend that has been set to bring quality education to our state. This is my dream Manipur free of corruption, strong in educational system and a place where hardwork is respected
