Masoom
Masoom is an NGO presently working in the Parel, Wadala, Dadar, Mumbai Central, Kurla and Worli area of Mumbai with students of night schools. Its main objective is to improve the academic performance and employability of the students in the night schools of Mumbai. Masoom has a special academic team devoted to school improvement and academic inputs. Masoom began its intervention in 2006 with a participatory research project on five night schools in Mumbai. Currently Masoom is running its intervention program in 15 night-schools.
Masoom Team
Masoom has an enthusiastic ten member team consisting of CEO, five educational coordinators, one accounts person, one administrative assistant, a career cell coordinator and a program manager. Many of the implementation team-members are people who were educated in Night School or Night College in the past and hence they understand the system very well. Some team members were also part of the original research study which identified a need for night school support.
Seeking Resource Manager for Masoom
The Resource Manager will become a new team member at the middle management level coordinating information from all staff members for fundraising, volunteer management, administrative and back office purposes.
The person should be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial bent of mind with flexibility to adapt to a constantly changing environment on the program and admin level. The person should have strong communication and enjoy working closely with a diverse team.
The person will report to the CEO directly and will be second in command of organizational and developmental issues such as fundraising, communications, volunteer program management, administrative and accounts supervision, etc. Including working with the CEO to set fundraising and donor management goals for the current academic year.
The person would also involve in envisioning the volunteer programme along with the team, in keeping with the team member’s socio-economic background and skills; to take people along with an openness to receive and give honest feedback within the team; also making critical decisions and taking up the targets of the volunteer program and working with staff to compile timely reports.
The new team member will have to be energetic and proactive to engage with diverse populations like donors and partners from corporate, nonprofit, international and national backgrounds.
Candidates must have an openness to work in flexible conditions in terms of work hours including evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities

o Fundraising: donor cultivation and management of present donors, preparing proposals, budgeting, reporting back to existing donors, planning and managing events
o Volunteer program: Coordinating with volunteer organisations to get new volunteers. Increasing volunteer database and involving more people in the programs. Orientation and feedback meets with volunteers. Monitoring volunteer activities. Formalizing volunteer curriculum/activities. Update orientation manuals for volunteers.
o Partnership management: Maintain relationships with resource people, organisations and donor partners that could add value to the programme. Strengthen relationship with existing partners.
o Documentation: Report writing, training the team in report writing
o Communication: preparing content for communication material, including newsletter, facebook, annual report, event reports, donor reports, website coordination
o In charge of organizing the staff development training programs.
Key competencies and experience required
A successful candidate will have:
o The person should be a post-graduate, preferably a MSW with a BCom background or MBA with a social sector background
o Sound and basic understanding of finance, systems, and HR; broad experience with the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems, human resources and marketing.
o 2 years of experience in fundraising including donor development, management and proposal writing
o Strong writing skills in English and speaking skills in English and Hindi. Marathi optional.
o Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher) and printing
o Is passionate about the cause and is open to working on Sundays, evenings and open to flexible hours of work
o Experience monitoring employee adherence to HR and administrative requirements
o Excellent people management skills including team building, and expectation setting
o Excellent time management skills, flexibility with program changes and a proactive style of working to effectively execute the monthly plans and realize targets.
