Manipur still reeling under petrol scarcity
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Dec 27:
Non-availability of petroleum still persists in Manipur even after a month had passed since the lifting of United Naga Council (UNC) sponsored economic blockade on national highways. Authorities concerned were tightlipped in giving the exact reason behind the still persisting scarcity. The minister concerned was unavailable for comment on the matter.
Petrol pumps across the state were yet to open regularly in total contrast with the expectation of the people. People had to endure long queues in front of filling stations.
Even as filling-stations remained closed, petrol was sold in black at higher rates than the normal prices, Rs 80 per litre while diesel at Rs 60. The price of a LPG cylinder still cost the same during the blockade period, Rs. 1800 to 2000.
