42nd Annual Sports' Meet, 2014 by MSAP from 26th to 28th December, 2014

The Manipur Students’ Association, Pune (MSAP) has organized “The 42nd Annual Sports’ Meet, 2014” at the Sports Ground, Wadia College, Pune during 26th to 28th December, 2014.
Shri W. Ranjan Singh, Indian National Combined Archery Coach, inaugurated the 3 days Sports Meet in presence of many working & retired Manipuri professionals staying in and around Pune. In first of its kind, an international institute has sponsored the Sports Meet in the history of MSAP.
The Symbiosis International University, Pune and Nextika have kindly co-sponsored & extended financial help in organizing this grand event. This time, the event was conducted for 3 consecutive days, also a first time in MSAP history, compared to 2 days in the previous years.
Students from different Manipuri communities like Meitei, Meitei Pangal, Naga, Kuki, Chiru, Hmar, Mizo, Tangkhul etc. who are studying in and around Pune participated in 22 individual and team events. Apart from the friendly events like football (Students Vs Professionals), tug of war for ladies (students Vs. Seniors), tug-o-war for gents (Students Vs. Seniors) etc., and many more fun-filled competitions for kids and family members staying in and around Pune were also organized on the last day.
With a neck to neck competition amongst the 15 football teams and 6 cricket teams, the Yarsho FC has finally picked up the winning “Smt. H. Akasini Devi Memorial Football Trophy” along with a cash prize of Rs. 6000 and KSO Pune has picked up the runners-up trophy “along with a cash prize of Rs. 3000.
The Victorious XI managed to get the Cricket winner’s “Shri Th. Ibotomba Singh Memorial Cricket Trophy” along with a cash prize of Rs. 6000 and Panthibi XI has picked up the runners-up trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 3000. The trophies and cash prizes were donated by Sonamani Salam, W. Ranjan, Dr. Narendra, T. Pakasana and Ch. Jayanta.

During the prize distribution cum closing ceremony, international boxers, Olympian Shri L. Devendro Singh and World Champion Shri Th. Nanao Singh were felicitated by MSAP executives and senior Manipuri Puneites.
MSAP expressed their gratitude to all the individuals/institutions/organizations for their unconditional support in making the event a grand success. Our success of the 3 days grand Sports Extravaganza would not have been achieved without the supervision, guidance and support from our seniors and professionals working in and around Pune.
Special thanks to our MSAP advisors, Mr. Irom Jiten, Mr. Sonamani Salam, Mr N. Giridhar, Dr. Narendra, Mr Ch Jayemta. and Mr. Md. Raees for not only guiding us but also for getting involved in every activities from the beginning till the end of the event.
The President of MSAP, Mr. Anthony Moirangthem had expressed a warm gratitude and thanks to all the executive members of MSAP, volunteers, participants and individuals from all the communities without whom our Sports Meet would not have been possible at all. Finally, the president of MSAP had also expressed his thanks to the Sports Secretary of MSAP, Mr. Luwangcha Cavendish Thounaojam.
The closing ceremony was ended with the vote of thanks and declared “Closed” the 3-day “The 42nd MSAP Annual Sports’ Meet, 2014” by the President, MSAP.
