Irom Roshan, a 21 year old innovator who made headlines in the past months for developing a humanoid robot, has assured that he is set to finish the robot named IVALA (Important Voice Authentication Life Assistant) for exhibition by February.

The young developer told The Sangai Express that he is aiming to develop a more bigger and advanced robot comprising of drones on back and remote control cars to approach suspicious/dangerous locations and detect IEDs/bombs.

Irom Roshan of Sagolband Moirang Hanuba (originally from Kwasiphai Maning Leikai, Bishnupur district) is the eldest son of Irom Tomba and Irom (o) Rekha.

He narrated that he developed a motor boat when he was reading in class VI at Special Regular English School in Nambol Sabal Leikai and later developed a JCB when he was in class VIII. Roshan finished class 12 at the said school.

After finishing Chemistry Honours at Oriental College in Takyelpat he is now in first year pursuing Machinist at ITI, Takyelpat. Maintaining that he first started building IVALA since February 2018, Roshan said that he used tools used by his carpenter father, to make platforms/legs of the robot.

He maintained that other gadget including aluminium, motor, arduina, mother board, bluetooth module, battery, indicator, convertor, step down, Raspberry Pi, Fan, microcontroller were used to build IVALA.

Roshan said that an expense of over Rs 1,50,000 have been incurred in the overall making of IVALA while adding that the robot can be operated through mobile as a remote control.

He continued that IVALA is 2.6'' in height and 1.9'' in size and IVALA will be exhibited at Science Exhibitions and Science Meets, organised by Manipur Science and Technology Department and Education Department.

He expressed hope that the completion of IVALA robot will be more furnished and complete if the department concerned encourages and motivates his work.

Roshan maintained that he along with his family visited N Chief Minister on December 8 last year when the news of a youth developing a robot spread, in which the Chief Minister had assured to extend necessary assistance to him.

Narrating his future plans, Roshan maintained that he is planning to build a much bigger and upgraded robot which can detect and approach sensitive or dangerous areas, which can in turn save lives.

The robot will have camera at the bottom, wheels and drones on the back which will enable it to enter difficult location/landscapes. He further stated that budget ranging from Rs 15 to 20 lakh will be required to make the said robot.

Local elder Tomba, Roshan's grandfather (father of his mother) Ngangbam Kala and Ngangbam Ibobi extended monetary aid in the making of IVALA, he said while expressing gratitude to his parents and all the people who provided support and assistance.
