The Telegraph | Imphal, Dec. 23
Chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh today reviewed security for the construction of railway lines from Jiribam to Imphal with GOC 57 Mountain Division Maj. Gen. Binoy Poonen and senior police personnel and officials of the state government.
The security review was done in view of the United Naga Council (UNC) ban on construction of railway lines for a period of two months beginning from December 16.
An official source said the chief minister reviewed the security situation with the army officials and discussed about deployment of forces for resumption of railway construction.
The meeting also discussed about flushing out militants from areas where construction is on to ensure trouble-free work atmosphere.
