Assam Tribune | Jorhat, Oct 10
“The encroachment of Assam’s land in Merapani by Nagas is not just a problem of the people of Merapani alone, rather it is the problem of the whole State,” AASU general secretary
He threatened that if the Assam government failed to not take action even after the proposed mass demonstration in front of Golaghat DC Office on October 13, a State-wide protest programme would be take up to stop encroachment in Assam’s land along the Assam-Nagaland border.
“The Nagas have established as many as 70 Naga villages in Assam land in the A, B, C and D sectors of Assam-Nagaland border. They also established three towns within the disputed areas, namely Joka, Homeland and Signboard,” stated Manoar Hussain, executive member of the central committee of AASU. He also alleged that preparation of establishing three Naga Subdivisions in Assam’s land is also going on in full swing under the patronage of the Nagaland government.
