TSA condemns officials of Assam government for their unruly conduct
The Thadou Students’ Association, General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) vehemently condemn the burning down of houses belonging to our Mizo brethren of Vairengte, Mizoram on 17th October, 2020 by some miscreant of immigrants Bangladeshi resident of Lailapur, Assam and their subsequent attack with sharp weapons to the Vairengte residents.
A check post to ensure Covid-19 protocol was put up on the Mizoram side in October 16 and it was arbitrary removed by authorities from the Assam side, leading to the clash.
Despite the fact that the high handedness of Assam's Hailakandi district administration for utilising highly disproportionate strength of police force to commit such horrible and despicable acts on a small group of student volunteers of Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) who were only trying to build a resting shed in a land within the boundary of Mizoram in March 2018 still remains fresh in our memories, we strongly denounce the unruly conduct of Assam government officials towards the innocent residents of Vairengte, Mizoram.
It is urged that the central government should immediately resolve the long pending boundary dispute in an acceptable way by both the state government of Assam & Mizoram so as to avoid further escalation of tensions creating unwanted incidents.
While extending our solidarity, the Thadou students and the whole Thadou community in Manipur, Mizoram and elsewhere stand by our Mizo blood brothers and sisters and assured to extend all necessary and possible help and assistance.
