Pursuit of struggle to bring Justice for Richard in Bangalore

In order to fight as a single unit in the struggle various organizations from North East states have voluntarily come forward and formed a committee called ‘Committee on Justice for Richard’. The committee was officially formed as a result of its first meeting held on Wednesday, 2 May, 2012 at the residence of Mr. Potsangbam Om Prakash, President, Manipuri Meitei Association, Bangalore (MMAB) and its second meeting held on Saturday, 5 May, 2012 at the same venue.

The current structure of the committee is as follows:

1. Convener: Mr. Jangkholen Elvis Singson - President, Kuki Students' Organization, Bangalore (KSOB)
2. Co-convener: Mr. Tiken Tayenjam - President, Bangalore Manipuri Students' Association (BMSA)
3. Co-convener: Mr. Jonathan Kungate - Senior Adviser, Hmar Students' Association, Bangalore (HSAB)
4. Co-convener: Mr. Angoube Hangsiu - Ex President, Zeliangrong Students' Union, Bangalore (ZSUB)

The committee is constantly in touch with the concerned authorities to track the progress of the investigation. On 7 May 2012 some of our members met Dr. M Nara, former Minister of Art & Culture and State Secretary, CPI, Manipur after his meeting with honorable CM of Karnataka and learnt that he was happy with the cooperation and involvement of CM in this case.

On the same day, the committee members also met the police team delegated by Govt. of Manipur and collected its opinion about the investigation. On 8 May 2012 Dr. M Nara addressed the committee members and expressed that CM, Karnataka is actively involving himself in this case.

We are waiting for histopathology report which is expected today 11 May as informed by IG, Intelligence, Bangalore. The third committee meeting is scheduled for Saturday, 12 May at the residence of Ngukato Chishi - Literary Secretary, Naga Students' Union Bangalore wherein we will discuss the further course of action.

Further to the agitation demanding JUSTICE for Richard Loitam, North East Students Unions/ Organizations/ Associations have decided to form a committee called "COMMITTEE ON DEMANDING JUSTICE FOR RICHARD LOITAM - BANGALORE CELL" to lead & take forward till we achieve Justice ethically & transparently.

The committee has unanimously elected Mr. R.K. Vivekananda and Mr. Jangkholen Elvis, their conveners. The committee details is attached FYI.

The two conveners will decide and schedule the first meeting to choke out next plan of action. We request each and everyone to support & help in achieving Justice.

We would also like to welcome any volunteer, Union, Association to join this committee.
