Another milestone reached!!

"....in the end, it's not the years in your life that counts. It is the life in your years," Abraham Lincoln, the 16th American President, who brought about emancipation of the slaves, is normally credited with this aphorism.

Indeed, in the timeline of journalism in Manipur, five years may be just a speck, too short and insignificant even to be counted.

But within this short period of time, the English edition of Hueiyen Lanpao has not only been able to carve out a niche for itself as a daily to be reckoned with in the service of disseminating information and moulding public opinions, winning the trust and confidence of the reading public with each advancing year.

This is not only to the credit of the dedicated team of young professionals at Hueiyen Lanpao, who always put in their best effort towards making the English edition of Hueiyen Lanpao to stand out from the rest, but also because of the continued and unstinted support and love of our esteemed readers, patrons and other well-wishers, who never hesitate from giving us their valuable feedbacks from time to time so that we could go on with greater strength, zeal and commitment with each passing year.

Without their support and feedbacks, we would not have been able to come so far in just a span of five our years, surely.

Though Hueiyen Lanpao as one of the most popular local vernacular dailies in Manipur has been in circulation and caught the attending of the reading public for its truthful, bold and fearless reporting since 1976, the first English edition of Hueiyen Lanpao hits the newsstands along with its cousin Meetei Mayek edition on this day of September 21 in 2008, thus, giving greater scope for projecting the sentiments of the people and putting across their opinions and views on important issues of the State.

This day also fulfils one of the long cherished dreams of the reading public in Manipur to see and have a newspaper printed in their own native scripts.

Today, Hueiyen Lanpao Group of Publications is the only media house in the whole North eastern region bringing out three dailies successfully.

This is a testimony to the fact that the three Hueiyen Lanpao editions have been able to live up to their motto "The Messenger of the Masses' and captured the hearts and minds of the people.

As both the English and the Meetei Mayek edition of Hueiyen Lanpao celebrate 5th anniversary today and look forward to stepping into the sixth year, we would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our readers, well-wishers, patrons as well as our regular contributors and columnists without whose backing, the journey so far would not have been so much enriching.
