Challenge Cup Veteran Football: FC Imphal, VSAI register wins

FC Imphal thrash ATVFA by 5-0 while VSAI Thangmeibanovercame KFC Keishamthong at the fag end by 2-0 to registered contrasting wins in the league match of the 17th Challenge Cup Veteran Football Tournament being played under the supervision of Manipur Veteran Football Association (MVFA) at MapalKangjeibung on Wednesday.
FC Imphal toyed with the ATVFA to pump in five goals in the first match of Challenge Cup today.
FC players took the early lead through Itocha in 7th min of the match taking advantage of nippiness of ATVFA defenders.
Three minutes later ThRohen increased the lead in 10th min.
Itocha, before the break, added another goal in 29th min to take his personal score to two and that of FC Imphal to 3 .

At the half time FC Imphal leads 3-0 against ATVFA.
After the break, ATVFA tried to make a strong come back to stay in the match.
The effort was materialized by M Bochou in 36th min when his strike hit the back of FC Imphal's net.
ATVFA players and supporters show a ray of hope but FC Imphal dusted the hope by added two more goals in 48th and 55th min through U Loken and Krishna.
Further, FC defenders did not lose any ground to advancing ATVFA strikers and ended the match in 5-1 in favour of FC Imphal.
VSAI Thangmeiban and KFC Keishamthong played a close match in the second match of the day.
Both the teams had some chances in the first half but the agility of the custodian helps their respective teams in keeping a clean slate.
The first half ended in 0-0 .
Similar to first half, the second session of the play continued with neither team being able to dominate their opponent.
As time ticks toward the final whistle the momentum started shifting towards VSAI team.
Suddenly, VSAI added two goals in a span of two minutes in 53rd and 55th min through N Imocha.
The two goals stunned KFC players while VSAI defenders defended to deny KFC of coming back into the match.
Imocha's effort guided VSAI to victory with 2-0 score line.
